It would be quite nice, if it was a Halloween Special only !
But for a deluxe edition too cheesy !

Oh man, this is almost as poor as Shiva...It's good as a joke, but should not be included on the Discovery deluxe edition, and i really like the original Poison Arrows track as well as entire Discovery album.

For those who like it, someone also posted a "To France" zombie version at youtube:

I can't think of a poorer effort by Mike. As much as I always loved this song, if this tries to get a smile from me it jut doesn't. Really poor.

It would be awesome without this pointless robotic voice  ;)

As for the money...this Poison Arrows Halloween Special track will appear as one of the tracks on the Discovery Deluxe Edition, so... :)

And it's available for standalone purchase on iTunes.

If it released alongside an untouched instrumental of Poison Arrows, I'd be up for that. I think Discovery is one of the song-led albums I'd most prefer an instrumental version of, a'la Man on the Rocks.

I have to say, that the Haloween Special is really nothing special to me, because you just get an instrumental version with zombie voice overdubbed. What i would like to see on such release as Discovery Deluxe Edition is some rare, unpublished tracks, demo versions, or live versions (concerts) of the period. Some time ago Mike posted on his Facebook group, that he has 25 reels of multitrack tapes, 25 hours of music! So why put Haloween Special, i'am asking? I'd like to get even some "not-so-good" quality live recordings rather than this.

Does Mike really think this is worthy of being on the re-issued Discovery?

Oh dear what has happened to his musical abilities!

Is this really the same man that gave us: Tubular Bells, Hergest Ridge, Ommadawn, Incantations and Amarok?

To understand, I think we have to look at the movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button: his most mature work was done at the beginning of his career and now he is just like a child.

True !

Now, I really don't know why to buy this deluxe edition...
The track "The Royal Miles" seems to be a re-work of Afghan

uDiscover

Maybe the only sense to buy this is the extract the single stems from the 5.1. version and make new mixes....

I do have a sense of humour, or at least I thought I did, but.... "OMG"
And you can actually buy this thing?  Errr, for what conceivable purpose?
Enough said!

This song is obviously a joke. And it's terribly bad music... which it's how a person that expresses himself through music shows his sense of humor. "Don Alfonso" in the 70s was a similar thing.

It's sad to see such aggressive and derogatory comments in this forum.

Sense of humor is a very particular thing. When I see german or dutch people making a joke I feel like "oh, dear God". But being derogatory would be absurd: different people have different sense of humor, that's all. And, honestly, I don't get Oldfield's musical sense of humor... but that's just because I have a different one.

Watching those comments, I can understand why Oldfield hasn't had the incentive to invest much work in making great music (and one of the reasons early albums were so great it's because he was working on them 24/7).

At least Don Alfonso was funny.

This is just plain awful!

A bit of positivity wouldnt go a miss on this board !

There is a vast amount of negativity produced here for any release coming from Mike.

These extras only cost a couple of quid more than the basic album. Every release has been slagged off to the hilt.

Mike recently asked on his Facebook page if "fans" would want a polished version of a new multi instrument album or be happy with a first take effort.

Perish the thought if he didn't come up with anything that didn't match Beethoven's 5th in full loss less surround sound.
