I have a nasty feeling that Ommadawn may be the last to be remixed and remastered in 5.1......
I hope im wrong.....But I havent heard about Mike doing the remixes for these....He talked about Ommadawn in 5.1 years ago......
and as he's on the move all the time has he got the gear to do such a mix....
Also as the albums that didnt do as well 1st time around come round is there the will to remix and repackage them..like the 1st 3 "golden" albums...

We may get remastered with extra tracks....thats all..

I soooooo hope that Im wrong ........

Hmm... remastered with extra tracks?

That's fine with me! I never really listen to the new mixes, except for Ommadawn as that was the first version I heard.

I'm definatly not in a sort of financial situation to buy a surround sound set.

But if its not re-released that would a be a sort of shame, as I have come to realize my old vinyl has not been playing very well, and since it's my favorite album... err... yea :/

---

I could of said that, or I could say:

Why would you want to remaster/rerelease me? I'm right here, and fresh as ever! (well maybe not, but whatever)

Didn't the re-masters actually chart? I think that's a good sign of things to come.

But does anyone know when it will be re-released ? I hope they won't wait for another year.
Maybe there will be a double realease of Incantations and Exposed.

Great news indeed! He'll start working on it now so I guess it would be sometime next year. Might as well wait, I can't afford another of those box sets this year! Haha...

Even though I would have to admit i would prefer him to spend the time working on a new CD instead of all the remasters... which are welcomed, but not as much as a new CD in the style of Incantations.....

I wonder if there are bits and pieces of alt-Incantations lying around. For instance, did he record other excerpts from the Song of Hiawatha? I suppose with the up a fifth down a fifth, I thought he'd have included "First Excursion" with an Incanted box set.

What would a new CD in the style of Inc look like?

Considering the previous re-releases, it seems that Oldfield gave a lot of his recording stuff to Virgin in these days. For me it's very likely that the Virgin achives includes a lot of unreleased stuff.

The only problem I see conceted with Incantations is that it is a 1h 13mins composition, because the maximum running time for an audio cd is 74mins, so there is no space for additional material if they release remix-, original- and surround-versions.
Except there would be a 4th cd.

The extras could be introduced all them in the DVD, as it has more space, so it could still be 2CD + DVD. But I prefer audio CD more than DVD to listen to only-music tracks.

Me too. But I really don't need the surround mixes, to be honest.

The Space Movie soundtrack would suggest the answer is 'yes'.

I would be in for more 5.1 Mike, never owned Ommadawn before but glad I bout the new edition great set three down many to go.

I would really want to hear 'five miles out'  in 5.1 may be '5.1 miles out' ;-)

Well, actually any Cd being manufactured today or in the past decade or so has been 80 minutes. And I doubt and actually release, rather than a cd-r wouldn't have a status quo length cd.

Still though, thats only seven minutes to fit bonus songs on, hinting that they may need to beef up the cost, so we can get our hands on more new or rare material.

But I have a nasty feeling the non-deluxe version may fall into the crevice of only one cd with no extra stoof  :/

It would be cool if they released surround sound mixes seperately so the people who actually have the money to fork up a system that can play it can buy the mix seperatly, better than having another useless cd/dvd lying around.

Whereas I have a nasty feeling that it'll follow the triple disc format of the other sets and we'll get a new mix, the old mix, a 5.1 mix, but no extra stuff at all because of a lack of room.

Dammit, we need a 4th disc!

:/

^

I just mean the non-deluxe version (e.g, the one they sell on itunes) that would just carry the stereo mix of the new mix.

Oh, and a fourth disc would be quite nice.

Yet I doubt the record company shall agree.
