I doubt most people would be bothered by the difference (apart from the lack of whine, which they may be thankful for! ). If I was remastering the album, I think I'd selectively apply it, rather than just treating every section the same. I actually used a specialist noise reduction tool for this, rather than a straight EQ. Taking out that whine makes the rest of the high frequency noise more obvious...that could be worked on too, of course!
It occurred to me that this may be something which was introduced at the mastering stage, and that some releases might not have it, so here's a totally untouched version for reference:
