Tough one.As i've said before it's almost an impossible question.Part 1 would be the harp bit with the really euphoric solo just before the decending guitar runs.Part 2 Paddy's bit then the section immediately after up to the 'greek' bit.
That said it's a bit like asking a small child their favourite part of xmas. You just know they're going to go on for hours and in the end tell you what ammounts to the whole thing.

The entire album is one work. The whole 45 minutes, including On Horseback. To eliminate anything would be to destroy Ommadawn as a whole.

Initially, I found the beginning of Part Two to be entirely too congested and irritating!

As with other Oldfield works, (HR in particular,) after several listens I realized the intent was to create the dramatic contrast between the unnerving beginning of Part Two of Ommadawn and the very quiet and serene guitar section directly afterward - the chaos and then the peace - so to speak; the emotion of each part totally enhanced by the other.

Now that I "get it" (as many have said in these forums,) I respect how each part depends on the other, something Oldfield knew from the start...

The first 5 minutes of part one. I love the sound of the deep synths mixed with the guitar.

The ending of part one. Just such a hectic adrenaline pumping climax.

And the end of part two JUST before On Horseback.

There are no synths and no guitars in the first 5 minutes of Ommadawn. It's a harp and an organ. A (string) synthesizer comes in slightly later.

Anyway, I agree on both of the other points. The "la-la-la" singalong part right before The Horse Song is particularily effective.
