I think my favourite moment of TB is really the part after the caveman. I mean 150 euros is a lot of money, and I'm not sure what to expect from it. John Cleese is funny, to me. By comparison, Alan Rickman (who I know as a "serious" actor) is almost too serious. @ HR lover: the Ultimate Edition is worth something only for the 5.1 mix on the DVD, which isn't available anywhere else. If you aren't bothered by 5.1 mixes but you like Mike's 2009 remix of the piece (because that's what the 2009 re-issue is ultimately about), just get the 2-CD Deluxe Edition. But as I have never owned the album on LP I have always considered it as Part 1 and Part 2 of a whole, as opposed to Side 1 and Side 2. And as such, would always listen to the album all the way through. Back to top

You know the type, with anti-shock and a -BBS- switch. Anyway I dusted off Tubular Bells and gave it a spin. It sounded great - almost like hearing it again for the first time. Almost, but not quite. Side 2 has me fascinated! I don't believe the music is solely played by Mike; it sounds too much like a group. With that intonation only gotten from playing with friends, (and family in Mike's case). In comparison, it's like saying Side 1 is linear and Side 2 is analogue - the differance speaks volumes. Which now leaves me wondering about the Madman singing half-way through. He doesn't seem to be who I thought he was. Maybe this is why the original refrain was used in the Exorcist movie - the guy is absolutely bonkers ... whoever he might be! Back to top

Once again I like the contrasts , sometimes you have very high-pitched tunes , and then deep sounds with good old drums .
