Peter Gabriel
Bruce Springsteen
Genesis
Vangelis
Kate Bush
Van Morrison
Paul Simon
The Who
Queen

Artists I'm currently exploring:

Talking Heads/David Byrne
Tom Petty
Fleetwood Mac
Roxy Music

Guilty Pleasures:

Lighthouse Family
Billy Joel

My favorite, other than Mike Oldfield, are:

2-Tangerine Dream
3-Vangelis

For me, all 3 are the same level of quality.

Other interesting are:

4-Klaus Schulze
5-Edgar Froese (solo project of a TD member)
6-Philip Glass
7-Yann Tiersen

8-Pink Floyd have many good thing, but many bad thing too.

90% of Jean-Michel Jarre is crap. It's not an artist. mad

I have a definitive list of Five Awesome Artists. Mike is of course first, then...

Yes: Very much like Mike in structure (sort of...), but in other ways very different. Favourites are Fragile, Close to the Edge and such, anything with Steve Howe and Rick Wakeman. That leads me on to...

Rick Wakeman: The worlds most excelent keyboardist. I love Both centre of the Earth Albums, and king authur. I have two live albums: Hammersmith Odeon and a Rock Legends DVD, that kick ass completely. cool

Harry Chapin:Amazing beautiful songs. I don't have any actual albums, but i do have a live one and a two CD best of. Most of his songs, I hate to say it, are superior to most of Mike's, especially Mr. Tanner, The Rock, Shooting Star, Circle, Taxi, Sequal and the immensely powerful Sniper.

Finally, Moby: Only having one album of his (Play), I can't talk much, but I can say that it is an amazing album. He is also a one dude artist that does everything, and with so much variety. The album Play was in the Australian charts for what seems like two years, and that isn't much of an exaggeration either.

Steve Roach; Vir Unis; vidna Obmana; Deepfried Toguma; Beanfield; Ran Kirlian; Joel Hinkle; T-Dream; Eno; Froese; and anything else tribal/chill/ambient that I can get my hands on. (God Bless MP3.com!)

(And, of course, a healthy dose of the blues to keep my soul rockin'!)

Actually, I do have several Harry Chapin albums, but they are all on record or tape. He did do some really nice songs, and he also represented a good cause; ending world hunger. He is definatley one of my favourite artists.
