But Arron, these are the things in life that really matter. Sex anb food are primary urges to man, but for you can squeeze in getting-to-know-about-mike-odlfied-recording-session-details in between the two. It's all about the details. It's small questions like these that I can sit and think about on my veranda with a cup of cofee and a walkman. It's wonderful. And it keeps the fear of global warming at arm's length. Don't underestimate the power of pointless knowledge! :-)

Edit: I'm not talking about your sandwhich. I would only care about that if it was a Mike Oldfield sandwhich!

:P It kind of is, yeah :P

I refer to Alan D's comical post about a comparison between a sandwich I once made and tried to replicate and the 'ol TB73 and TB03 debate.

Was funny at the time, anyway :P

Ah those were the days. I remember that sandwich with great affection. I wonder where it is now, and how many hopeless attempts at replication there have been?

As for what Mike was saying 6 seconds into Platinum ... it could be 'sandwich' you know.

Hopeless attempts... many.

Just consider for example how many possible combinations were considering... 120 seperate sandwiches, with the fillings in different orders, and that doesnt take into account filling freshness, quantity or the harshness of spreading/applying!

:D

They make sandwiches on a computer now, you know. The software comes with preset fillings. So now they say that anybody can do it; but you and I know better.

But there are people who use whole chunks of other people's sandwhiches, or even of their own old sandwhiches. And that's cheating for sure. Some people go so far as to take someone else's sandwhich and just put a slice of their own cheese on top. Some people wouldn't even call that a sandwhich.

Listened to this for the first time today and if I had to put it to one of the options on the poll, it's 'catch it'. but to be honest I think he's simply making one of those weird noises Michael jackson used to do a lot. 'Citcha!' etc.

OK. You made me switch it on and listen. It sounds much like a non-descript something to me and always has ever since I first heard it upon its release but, harking back to when someone said earlier that it sounded like a sneeze, it very well could have been and could also have lent itself to the name "Airborne".

Go on, think about it. Humour me.

@ J1Star (hello & welcome, by the way): M.O. is not M.J. and he doesn't usually make noises with his mouth. He makes noises with his instruments. :D Anyway, I guess that his intention was really to whisper "Platinum". But he got confused by the fact that he had only two syllables available (instead of three) and so it probably came out as just "Platch'm". :p If you slow it down, you can definitely hear the "Pla".

Maybe it's the musical equivalent of the Rorschach test  :D

I've always thought it was a pity that the collaboration between the two never materialized, that could have been very interesting indeed. (For those who don't know, MJ phoned MO once suggesting a collaboration, but Mike turned him down. He was probably right in doing so, too, as MJ collaborated with many people who never ended up on his records.)

Personally, I'm glad MO had the sense to turn him down.

I'm hearing 'kitchen' when I listen to this song now :B

He said "Kiss kicks". Not the lip thing, the band. Personally, I always detested Kiss, but MO is a big fan of theirs. I read something in the late 80's, I think it was an interview in a keyboard or guitar mag, that he specified in his will that he wants to be buried in a Kiss t-shirt.

Off topic, @ Cavalier: I never understood why MJ sang "sh'mon" instead of "c'mon". He only does that in the Bad album... maybe, IIRC, only in "Bad" (the song). But there may be some sh'mons dropped in other places as well. :) The Italian word scemo, where sc is pronounced like the English sh, means stupid, and scemone in Italian is a big stupid man. I'm always reminded of that when I hear MJ singing "sh'mon". :D

@ Jim: Kiss used to kick. Now they just suck. :D
