Well, Plastikman is indeed techno, and the other piece is too - rather hard forms of techno, indeed. But I didn't say "techno" - I said "technopop", which is different. By using that word I was referring to the genre that (early) Pet Shop Boys and (early) Depeche Mode used to do, or at least were labeled as such. Do you remember that Kraftwerk song from 1986? "Music non stop... techno pop!" That's the kind of music I was referring to. "House music" as I know it hadn't really developed by that time... it reached its best and fullest form in the early Nineties. Even Kraftwerk went "house" on their Tour de France album, but they never labeled themselves as such. Anyway, of course you're free to refer to the Nylon song as "house". As Edina from Absolutely Fabulous (also quoted by PSB) would have said: "Names, names, names."
Re. Elvis: you're Dutch, aren't you? According to what I've read, Elvis used to be highly unfashionable in most of Europe, and in the Benelux area in particular, during the Eighties and the early Nineties. The country's interest in him emerged only during later years.
Re. Carly Rae Jepsen: yes, she's pure pop. But, like other female estabilished pop stars (people like Madonna, Lady Gaga, Kylie...), she's very high quality pop, although, being fully honest, I have to say that she sounds a bit like Katy Perry. It seems like it's terribly hard to be 100% original in today's pop music...
P.S. @ Olivier & other admins: can you fix the embedded video player somehow? It always says "Video player is too small" with every single YouTube video that's linked in here. It's always nice for me to listen to music while surfing here on tubular.net, and the fact that videos don't play directly in here kind-of bothers me a little bit.
