@ 3Wheeler: Within Temptation are indeed excellent. I'm glad that they finally got away from being not much more than a clone of Evanescence and Nightwish and found their own style.

Never thought you could Compare  WT with Evanescence Actually.
WT are much more a Symphonic Rock Band.. Got Both Bands CDs.
Plus Sharon is a More Talented Singer IMO..

I asked this before, what is this "my webpage" crap? How do you just put up a link and have it stay that link?

Tangerine Dream- Tangram (Set 1)

Amazing stuff. It sounds like a mix of Goblin, Pink Floyd, and Mike Oldfield.

Just type/paste as normal text in your post.

This is some deep disco 80s house whatever. But it's pretty cool stuff.

The video is awesome too.

@ HR lover: that sounds to me like ordinary technopop, or, as I used to call it a few years ago, M.M.M. = machine-made music. :) But, as I said in another topic, it has its charm.

Now playing...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tthEpLS69fo

Great music, great performance [the (former?) King complaining about not having a strap is priceless!], very bad recording (what you hear is what you get, no YouTube artifacts here). But that was 1968 and that was TV, so I can understand it.

@ Ugo

Technopop? When I think of techno I think of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dU4hmmf4wUE

or this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nsct-e-HVE0

Techno is mostly rhythm-based, has usually no or barely any bass and lead.

Surely that song was house. It sounds a bit like Daft Punk IMHO (structurally).

House is warmer, it is the posterior of disco music. House is groovy.

As for pop, this song only has 33k views, so I wouldn't call it pop.

p.s. I used to be a big fan of Elvis. I remember saying that I like Elvis in high school. People seemed really amused at that, still don't know why though.

Now playing:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWNaR-rxAic

Now this is pop. Most people hate this, but strangely enough this is one of the few pop songs I really like. I have listened to this quite a lot recently  :D

Well, Plastikman is indeed techno, and the other piece is too - rather hard forms of techno, indeed. But I didn't say "techno" - I said "technopop", which is different. By using that word I was referring to the genre that (early) Pet Shop Boys and (early) Depeche Mode used to do, or at least were labeled as such. :) Do you remember that Kraftwerk song from 1986? "Music non stop... techno pop!"  That's the kind of music I was referring to. "House music" as I know it hadn't really developed by that time... it reached its best and fullest form in the early Nineties. Even Kraftwerk went "house" on their Tour de France album, but they never labeled themselves as such. Anyway, of course you're free to refer to the Nylon song as "house". As Edina from Absolutely Fabulous (also quoted by PSB) would have said: "Names, names, names."

Re. Elvis: you're Dutch, aren't you? According to what I've read, Elvis used to be highly unfashionable in most of Europe, and in the Benelux area in particular, during the Eighties and the early Nineties. The country's interest in him emerged only during later years.

Re. Carly Rae Jepsen: yes, she's pure pop. But, like other female estabilished pop stars (people like Madonna, Lady Gaga, Kylie...), she's very high quality pop, although, being fully honest, I have to say that she sounds a bit like Katy Perry. It seems like it's terribly hard to be 100% original in today's pop music...

P.S. @ Olivier & other admins: can you fix the embedded video player somehow? It always says "Video player is too small" with every single YouTube video that's linked in here. It's always nice for me to listen to music while surfing here on tubular.net, and the fact that videos don't play directly in here kind-of bothers me a little bit.

For reasons beyond my control I can barely listen to music at all anymore without feeling sick. One of the few exceptions is the music of Lol Coxhill, who album "Ear of the Beholder" I listen to every night on my earphones as I try to go to sleep. It's so unlistenable/unpopular that noone has even bothered to put it up on youtube (even though it's regarded as his "classic" album). But it goes something like this, but with added ambient street sounds.
