I find this track so annoying that I tend to skip it, I can see that the first minute is nice but goodness me is it repetitive!!

No, I don't agree, it's a great song. I wish it would be even longer, it's wonderful to listen to it at night - and this is true for the whole Crises album.

Anyway, it's really rare that you can't hear any kinds of guitars in an Oldfield track, I only know about these (except for TKF):

Foreign Affair
Bones
The Trap
Make Make
In the Beginning
The Sunken Forest
A New Beginning
The Spectral Army (only basses)
Sunlight Shining through Cloud
Broad Sunlit Uplands
Firefly

...and even including TKF Foreign Affair was the very first one.

I wouldn't quite say it annoys me, but I certainly wouldn't say I like it either.  I find it doesn't really go anywhere or do anything much musically. I think some more development would have been nice.

That song is one of the very few songs I have that truly tests my patience. Seriously. I can take repetitiveness and monotony (I'm a Cure fan, by golly), but I can't take... whatever Foreign Affair is.

it would have been nice to have an actual description of her foreign affair hehehe, no I think it is dull and the boring/annoying bits outweigh the good bits, their voices sound great but what they are singing means nothing and unlike Crises it leaves nothing to the imagination.    :/

Foreign affiair is a good dance song. Actually, the girls like it when they hear it. And the song remain me of summer and sunshine. Problamy because one of the lyrics: tropical beach.... Anyway, its good and will allways be one of mye favorite song.

The final part with that repetitions sucks a bit to me.

It is definitely repetitive and I could understand anyone saying it is boring but I enjoy it. I never get sick of singing that verse over and over again, and it is my 2nd favourite song after Far Country, followed by some of Barry Palmers stuff on Discovery.

Top of the Morning?

I'd better check the Elements DVD, but I thought I saw guitars playing during "Top of the Morning". Not sure, though: I might be thinking of another track.

Yeah.  That's right Hiawatha.  The guitar in the Horse Guard's Parade DVD video for Top of The Morning is a brown Paul Read Smith Custom 24 electric guitar being played through the Roland VG8 virtual guitar modelling unit with a flute and bagpipe preset selected.  :)  :)

None of the above - great song and just a little too repetitive.

Yes, as I wrote, that list intentionally didn't include any tracks from TKF. You're right about TWC1 but it's not really a separate track or is it?

Indeed, I thought about not including guitar sound and not guitar playing, so TTOTM should be there. :)

It is a bit too repetitive but I still like it. It just could've been so much better. It has so much potential to go elsewhere but the same lines get repeated ad nauseum. Thankfully, it is a good tune and Maggie's voice is as fine as ever.

The Only time I ever felt like shoving my fist down a throat was when I heard Bros on the radio, many years ago.
The song would be 10 times better if it just had another verse instead of playingon and on. It makes you think it's about 10 minuites long.

I love the whole feel of Mike's work during that period, Maggie had a great voice for his stuff and he was producing unforgettable pop songs and instrumentals for a pastime.
Dare I say bring it back :O

Spot on.

Maggie has a great voice, and thus makes the repetitive chrous a whole lot more tolerable.

In High Places and Foreign Affair are fantastic tracks. They have a cold, chilly quality that sends shivers down my spine. In the case of Foreign Affair I can't help but thinking how perfectly it would fit on Patrick Bateman's walkman - cold, repetetive, cocaine-like digital synth arpreggios and lyrics that could be a synopsis for a cheap 1983 direct-to-video drama. All delivered by Maggie in a voice that expresses as much sadness as indifference.
I have no about the intentions behind the song. But it's a cool shiny surface. As opposed to say...Magic Touch.
