What instrument is it? A pipe of some sorts I guess. The liner notes does not mention any pipes, just woodwind.
So, does anyone know what instrument plays the "main melody" on part 1 after the glockenspiel comes in? And who plays the instrument? I just realized I didn't have a clue, and I've been obsessing about this album since 1983.

It's an Irish tin whislte (other wise known as a flageolet)probably played by Mike. The very same as used on TB side one.Wouldn't worry about the notes. They miss out bass guitar too.

It could have also been played by his brother Terry, who worked with him on the album. Terry played the flute in the famous live performance of Tubular Bells at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London.

Interesting. And I hadn't noticed about the bass guitar not being in the notes.

This is a flageolet:

Most likely you can find one in your local shop for around 3€ / 2 pound.

Thanks people. I'm gonna buy myself a flageolet and see if I can play that melody!  :)
