I just re-discovered "Tubular X". Bit of a naff title, but a superb version of the X-Files soundtrack with a tubular twist.

Too bad they didn't use it in the film.

This was at one point due to be on TBIII... I guess musically it didn't really fit in.

(of course the time would't be right) But tubular-x is more for me 2003-ish.
And I love mark snow's work (I have the whole X-file serie)

Actually Mike didn't name the title. He made the tune and then he said in an interview that "..they called it Tubular X, or something."

I love it. Brilliant rendition. Although it made me realise that the the off-beat to the song was actually the on-beat. I've been listening to it wrong all this time lol.

Sonilink: you love changing avatars, don't you

This one is cool. Family Guy and Simpsons: no cartoon beats those! (not even southpark though that's cool as well)

Yeh I love the Tubular X track, bought the whole soundtrack just for that track but really like some of the other stuff on there too.

It's on the second X-Files movie soundtrack (there are two).

A bit of a topic kick after 17 years, but...

I've always found the mood and instrumentation of Man in the Rain a total misfit on the TB3 album. Even more so if Mike wouldn't have put the reference to 'the man in the rain' in Far Above the Clouds. An 80s vocal pop track doesn't make sense at all on a TB-labeled album, which I associate with piano and guitar tunes with only voiced oohs and aahs.

So the first thing I always do when making a TB3 playlist is throwing Man in the Rain out of the bag of secrets and replace it by Tubular X. Much more pleasant to listen to than that dull 80s pop variation on Moonlight Shadow that would have fit well on Crises or Discovery, but not on TB-whatever-number. Man in the Rain totally ruins the atmosphere of the TB3 album for me. Fortunately, Tubular X enhances it very well!

It's atmospheric, spooky, mysterious... Must come from the same source of secrets far above the clouds as the other tracks. :)

Not sure I would insert Tubular X into this album, but I agree about Man in The Rain, I always found it out of place to have a traditional song in the album, TB1 and TB2 have nonsense word songs, which would have been better, there is also no instruments introduction in TB3 which is weird.
