Thanks for your kind comments chaps!

Just for a bit of fun, I tinkered with that Clash cover, and discovered how Mike really got The Bell into that shape...

...here

Keeping it simple :/

Brilliant! I love the use of the negative space to create the image - very clean and modern, and the embossing creates a very classy and substantial look to the piece. Bravo!

My favourite album covers are the Roger Dean "Yes" collection. Anything Roger Dean really, including the original Virgin logo. ;)

Really nice design! :) Though, personally I'd make the title and Mike's name a bit more prominent.

Are there any photos of Mike smoking cigarettes around? I could have sworn I saw some somewhere.

heh. is this the only place in the world where the term "bell shaped" means "like a numeral 4 rotated forty-five degrees" instead of something more like this bell curve

I remembered someone mentioned doing a cover without the universally recognised "bell"... this was my effort:

click...

(not brill quality, I'm afraid - always seems to lose definition whenever I upload it onto an image server...) :(

Wow...that is very, very stylish. That's probably my favourite of the suggestions so far.
