I spotted two well-known themes on TMB:
A vocal/chorus theme on track 3 and 5.
And a Piano theme on track 8.
(Please read my TMB review in this forum).
WHERE ARE THEY FROM?
Please MAIL to me!!!
(Notice: I'm not a lawyer or something, who wants to criticise. I *LOVE* MO. I don't mean any harm. It's just an academic poser for music insiders)

Am I only replying to myself? Come on, all you fans out there ... !
Well, today I listened to a song on the radio which had the same melody again (TMB Trax 3 & 5, russian national anthem?). I think it's a chart song, but the radio man of course didn't say by whom it is (they never do these days). Can anybody help?

Hello CarstenKuss!

I found an interesting thing on TMB: Let's listen to the beginning of Liberation (to 00:25). Just the same step-dancing theme in the background like before the "Hello everyone" part on Amarok...

TomTom

PS: I think, track 3 is similar in sound-feeling to the Vangelis/1492...

Right, Tom! Track 3 is similar to Vangelis 1492 - Conquest of Paradise. It's not only similar - it is a copy. Mike is a naughty boy. Why he doesn't know cribbing is something wrong?

I think that "Broad sunlit uplands" sounds familiar, it sounds like some classic movie theme... But I'm not really sure.

I've heard other people say Broad Sunlit Uplands sounds like a movie theme as well...none of us have been able to place it yet, though...

Liberation similar to Vangelis' Messages on album Voices (track 8)

Enigma 4's Beetween Mind & Heart (Track 10) similar to Sunlight Shining Through cloud

Hi, CarstenKuss...I've already e-mailed this to your address...this is just a security reissue in case you do not receive it... smile

I think that the piano theme in BSU is a cross-up between Love Story by Francis Lai and an untitled theme from Indecent Proposal, by John Barry, occurring at about 7:15 in the Instrumental Suite from the IP Original Soundtrack CD.

P.S. Did you read my reply in the "Chant in HR" topic on the Lyrics and Language forum?

Oops! I forgot...
CK, you're absolutely RIGHT about the Russian national anthem. I know a song called "A Ja Ljubilju SSSR" [«Yes I love USSR» in Russian], by an Italian (!) pseudo-Communist group called CCCP: the two guitar solos in it are based on the same melody.

Right. There is a MIDI of the USSR National Anthem at http://www.funet.fi/pub/culture/russian/lyrics/political/ I think, "Santa Maria" is very similar to that (only slower), ISN'T IT??
