As this is the album with Taurus 1 on it,i thought i would ask the question in this forum.
Mike has made Taurus 1,2 and 3,a 3 track series over 3 albums, but was this intentional, did Mike always have the 3 track 3 albuim idea,or did it just turn out that way,i am guess he always intended it to cover 3 albums, because on QE2 it's called Taurus 1,not just Taurus.anyone any ideas?

I don't know what Mike was thinking about, but it's clear that Taurus 1 & 2 are linked.
In the 80's tour, you can hear Maggie Reilly "sing" the "Deep Deep Sound" during Taurus 1...
And later, also in concerts, Taurus 1 & 2 were mixed...

A few notes of the "Deep Deep Sound" tune appear at the beginning of Taurus I (on QE2), so they're definitely connected. :)

Taurus II is clearly a sequel of Taurus 1. I guess Taurus 3 is a joke.

Hmm, Taurus 3 is definitly not a joke. Int he first part pf T3 you can hear the melody (a bit different) from 2:00 on Taurus II, which is also covered on Orabidoo from the same album. Again: Not a joke...!

Hmmm. You're referring to the second quick section of Taurus II. The only similarity I can see are the use of semiquavers. The melodic shape and rhythm aren't the same.

I'm still inclined to think of the first two Taurus instrumentals as mock 'symphonies' in which a composer would call Symphony No. 1 and so on. Taurus 3 could have only been named that because Mike couldn't think of a better title and like TB couldn't leave it at II.

Another theory could be that the Taurus series all deal with an aspect of Mike's musical and personal interests. Taurus 1 was slightly celtic-sounding; Taurus II obviously dealt with plane flying like the rest of FMO and possibly Mike's increase in confidence; and Taurus 3 has a clear flamenco style.

Every time I listen to the Taurus series, I can't really hear too much of a thematic correlation.  I always enjoy certain sections, but I'm afraid I can't think of them as a whole.  Not yet.

.... Time for a release of a Taurus IV?

Either that, or a piece of bull (pun intended). :D

SunkenForest.

I don't hear a correlation between Taurus 1,2 or 3 either.
