Can't help but i'd love to hear it.had a scout around on YouTube and it's not there and i don't think it was ever released any where.Certainly not legitimately anyway.I remember watching it with my dad in around 83.Can't have been any later as i moved in 84.Really very short peice.I seem to remember it being an electronic sounding peice probably using a Fairlight.Let me know if you have any luck.

Thank you for your answer ...
I am a big fan for years and have accumulated quite a few mp3 rarities (not too difficult since the expansion of the Internet), but some are really really difficult to find. I'd love to have some
new material to listen before the Deluxe editions of HR and Ommadawn !!

Edit

Incredible, you've probably brought luck ...
I searched for quite some time, and here I come by chance
do a search on Google Videos, and what I found .....
My collection of findable rarities is growing !

As far as I can tell, the documentary dates from 1985 which makes it connected to the work Mike has done on the soundtrack of The Killing Fields.

according to the page "http://www.flinders.edu.au/ehlt/archaeology/the-
department / resources / arch-videos.cfm", there were two episodes about Sutton Hoo in 1984 and 1985 ... Had they both the same titles, hey hey !? In any case you are both right !

Good.My short term memory may be shot to buggery but my long term is extremely good!
And i remember it cos after spending an age trying to tune my sister's telly in we realised we had the wrong channel and they were showing a documentary about witches.Turned over just in time to catch the opening titles!
And it was also partly responsible for sparking my love of English history

After all these years, is there anybody having the full documentary ?

It would be cool to share and upload it somewhere.

I wasn't aware of this thread. I assume Mike provided the soundtrack to the documentary? Sutton Hoo interests me as well - I even published a poem about the battle helmet of King Raedwald's battle helmet found there. It's sort of a real world equivalent of MR James's classic story "A Warning to the Curious".

Two extracts of the soundtrack are available here :

I'm still curious to listen to (and see) the whole thing.

Thanks, Captain Cavern. Unfortunately, while I can play the second of your two links, the first gives the "content unavailable in your location" message. Typically anal-retentive BBC, and so much for the "world wide" web!

Same thing for me. I can't see the BBC video. ("content unavailable in your location")

If someone can view et retrieve it, it would be nice to upload it on a file sharing site.
