Space Arrow World (unofficial)

Go to this set of ringheads at position 7 on the map, near the black moonface. Touch the nearby green crystals so you can shoot rings.

Set your speed to 3 (just press the '3' key while the game is running - this is essential as you have to move fast). Stand well back from the rightmost ringhead (only practice will tell you how far), and fire a stream of rings at the ringhead. When you can see they're on target, run as fast as you can away from the ringhead, roughly towards the right.

Normally the space arrow would carry you off to the distant space ship among the planets. The aim of your fast sprint is to defeat the space arrow's attempt to grab you by making sure you're a very long way from the ringhead when the arrow is actually released. (Just firing at the ringhead from a distance isn't good enough in this case - though it works fine for Firebeings World.)

If you're successful, you'll be swept up into space - but without the space arrow. You'll find yourself floating in space, and at first it may seem that you're entirely lost. Don't panic! Stay calm! Look around you. You may see odd objects floating in space near you: Mike's hand, perhaps; or the green mountain, or the temple. As you wait and watch, a whole world will start to assemble itself in front of you, and you'll be drawn towards it. Just move around until it starts to make sense (you may find yourself below the surface of this new world - just fly upwards.) It will look like the familiar Tr3s Lunas landscape; but the sky will be black; there will be a beautiful nebula hanging like a tapestry in the sky; there will be planets rolling slowly in their orbits; and many aspects of the landscape will be strangely changed (and by no means always the same on every visit).

This is Space Arrow World - the most unpredictable, the most fascinating, the most puzzling, and the most inexhaustible of all the unofficial worlds that have been found. There are still a lot of things about it that we don't know.

Congratulations then, to Siennafoot - who I think was the first person to set foot in this amazing place. There'll be a lot of things to include in this thread, and some fantastic pictures.

Mysterious inconsistencies in Space Arrow World

In Space Arrow World, it's as well to expect the unexpected. The normal laws of physics and biology don't seem to apply.
For example, you may find plants growing in the sea.
Sometimes (but not always) there are rocks scattered around, with curious levitating properties.
And the temple, which looks mysterious enough already in this new setting, is sometimes found to be floating a few inches above the ground, if you approach and look very closely.

We still don't understand just what it is that causes things to be different from one visit to the next, but we think it may have something to do with
(1) the direction in which you run when you fire at the ringhead at the start, and
(2) where you are in the landscape when you're picked up and whisked off into space. (If you run towards the sea, for example, you can often still hear the sea when you arrive at Space Arrow World.)

But no one so far has sorted this out enough for it to be predictable what you'll find on any given visit.

Travelling in Space Arrow World

There are some great epic journeys you can undertake in Space Arrow World. They tend to take a while because for some reason your speed is limited - you can't move quickly there, even at the maximum speed setting of 3. (There is a way of moving faster but it needs another post to explain how.)

How about that ringed planet? It looks tempting. Well, it can be reached: there are no barriers in Space Arrow World, but it's quite some distance to travel. When you get there you can play among the rings. Here's the view from the rings, looking back. There's also a comet orbiting the planet, and you can investigate that as closely as you like (if you can catch it).

Expedition to the Great Obelisk

When you get to Space Arrow World, go to where the ant tunnel entrance ought to be (it may or may not actually be visible) and look out over the sea towards the horizon. You may (or may not) see a tiny vertical sliver of light. If it isn't there, look again the next time you visit. Sooner or later, you'll see it.

If you're lucky enough to see it, set off across the sea towards it, and be prepared for a long journey. Eventually the sea gives way to a great cratered desert, and as you approach the mysterious object you'll see that it's an obelisk, like the one where the airship avatar is usually located in the 'normal' Tr3s Lunas world. As you move closer you'll see, however, that this obelisk is vast (its vastness is particularly noticeable if you have an avatar with you). Look back from here towards the mainland. You can sense the isolation of this place in the cratered desert, and you can wonder about how and why this huge obelisk came to be here at all.

Travelling to the green mountain, and beyond into space

This is one of the most amazing journeys you can undertake in Tr3sLunas.

Look for the green mountain on the horizon, and travel towards it. Be very careful not to travel near to the lurking space arrow as you leave Tr3s Lunas, or it will pick you up and carry you off - it's probably best to travel out of the mainland towards the volcano for a little way, and then set off for the green mountain from there.

Movement is slow, so it will take quite a while, but eventually you'll draw nearer to the mountain. Keep going, and as you approach, move upwards towards the summit. Keep moving upwards, past the summit - and suddenly you'll find yourself in space, high above the planet, and free to move quickly at last. This was first discovered, I think, by olracuk.

Be careful at first - you can travel so fast that it's possible to get lost. You can look down at the planet's surface below you. If you move further into space, you may see the planet shaping itself into a disc, instead of a sphere. The Earth is flat after all, in the virtual Oldfield world..... From further out, you can see the other planets orbiting Tr3s Lunas - apparently the centre of the universe!

If you fly towards the planet again, you may see it reform itself into a sphere, and you'll be able to pick out details of Tr3s Lunas on the surface below you. You can also fly all around the planet - and look for this great gash, or chasm, in the surface. You can also visit this nearby asteroid, and any of the other planets.

If you now fly down towards the planet's surface, and land, you'll find that you can now move about the surface far faster than ever before. What's more, you can take off again, explore the universe, and be back in time for tea.

Exactly why it's necessary to travel to the green mountain before any of this can happen is a mystery. It's as if we're moving between two phases of gameplay - the surface of the planet, and the universe in which it's embedded - and at the top of the green mountain is a way of moving from one phase, to the other. But this was never intended to be part of the 'normal' Tr3s Lunas game. We were never intended to be out here, doing this, pushing the game to these limits. Why it all works so spectacularly is most mysterious.

Of course the Zodiacal sign for Sagittarius is an arrow pointing to space. According to wikipedia, Sagittarius is  "the learned healer whose higher intelligence forms a bridge between Earth and Heaven".
