Hey, so I was a little bored this weekend!

I've noticed that MIDI files of Incantations seem to be a lot rarer than Mike's other albums - whole chunks are "missing", at least in the places I've looked? Anyway, for various reasons, I was trying to recreate the sequences at the beginning of Side 2, and all of a sudden it took on a life of its own and I had a go at actually recreating those late 70s retro analogue sounds!

Results on Soundcloud at:

The pipe tune sounds a little ragged in timing, but that's because the original is! (my version is pretty closely mapped), but for some reason it stands out more in mine? I couldn't get the tape glitch in exactly the same position, but hopefully it sounds suitably aged!

For another bit of fun, I think most people know that the "pipe tune" which opens Side 2 is a backwards version of the trumpet "call and reply" on Side 1 at around the 6'24" mark (or is that a backward version of Side 2?!;). To make this clearer, I took the MIDI notes for the tune and reversed them (i.e. the position of the notes, not playing them backwards), results up at:

More on Incantations another day, hope you enjoy the above!
