I don't think he's left for good. Moving house this week isn't he - he'll have all on.

Gee Deb, that's sweet my own thread, but I didn't leave for good. Just "diluting" my time here to focus on my "stuff". Mike Oldfield is a great man, my fav. composer and "artist" of the 20th century(and all time). 21st, well let's just say I wish the 20th had just gone on and on......forever. If I could be stuck inside a temporal nexus that repeats/loops forever it would be 1980. QE2 was new, Incantations was still "fresh". YES had "Drama", AC/DC was rocking the free world with Back in Black, I could go on and on. Y'all be cool. Jim

Jimbo, how about changing it to "tubie"?  Like "trekkie".  I think I recall reading somewhere that "tube" is an old Brit-slang derogatory term.

Just wondering.

Alright, from this time forward it will be the formal "Tubularian". No slang, no shortenings.....show some respect for the man. I mean Mike not me.

Yeah "tubes" is sometimes used over here to signify something going awry or "pear shaped" I guess..As in the sentance;.."Britney Spears, her career has gone right down the tubes".Kind of similar to "down the pan" but not quite as derogartry maybe.Either way her career`s kind of "in the toilet" let`s put it that way.No offence to all you Britney fans out there btw. It`s funny though is`nt it how you can be "flushed with success" one minute and "down the tubes" the next?Toilets have got a lot to answer for imo.Apparently it was in fact a toilet that was the initial inspiration for "Oops I Did It Again"..Yeah the less said about that one the better really. In fact I wish I`d never even mentioned it now.

There`s actualy a character on a tv show over here who goes by the name of "Tubes".Yeah for those that know of him I`ll say no more..Man that show`s gone right down the pan.

You British folks with your crazy, crazy derogatory terms!

I do believe "tubes" should be a very positive term in tubular.net, after all, this forum is not a big truck: it's a series of tubes!

(yeah, I know, I did that joke way too many times)

What manner of brew will be at my party? I'm abstaining from distilled spirits for the time being.

Guinness is OK stuph. I little bitter and low alcohol content, but OK. I've only tried the nitro cans. Now Guinness stout is another story. Better flavor, slightly higher alc. content.

Hey Jim.Good to see you back.Like Deb i am now teetotal but i did love a drop of draught Guiness. As long as it's well kept of course.A favourite of Mike's as well.In fact i did have a very good pint in the Jolly Boatman where Mike,Tom Newman and Simon Heyworth used to drink lots of the stuff while recording TB.Used to be a favourite Sunday afternoon pint of mine but i couldn't go out to get drunk on it.Too filling. For that i used to drink lots of real ale.
I have a friend from Syracuse who has relocated to the UK and is in love with English ale.According to him you can get ale in the USA brewed in Micro-Breweries.Sounds like it must cost a fair bit if it's that specialised.
