Jammer,

[QUOTE]http://www.btinternet.com/~adzy31 still works

Following the link above I saw the amp circuit you have posted, what exactly were you trying to point out in the circled bit? Just curious, and forgive me for being snoopy.

I've so waited for this moment. I am so replacing Into Wonderland with Sally on a CD-R. What a funny song! What a fine melody! The vocals are hilarious! Why should anyone think they are bad?

Well, I think they are bad, or at least annoying. There is a fine line between 'hilarious' and 'silly', and Mike pretty much crossed it here. Unprofessional is another word that comes to mind: he could have recorded the song to much better effect than he did. However, Into Wonderland isn't much better: at least sally isn't boring or dull like its replacement.

That's not my website. I haven't a clue what the amp circuit is

The best thing Mike could have done is to have taken Sally's tune, change the lyrics and have Wendy Roberts singing it instead. I don't think Branson would have minded then

Unprofessional, perhaps, and what's wrong with that? We already have the title track on the opposite side of the record! That's professional enough for me, already! Oh, well, I have been a fan of Mike's sense of humour, so I'm probably more tolerant about good-offs like those. I mean, give me that over "The Inner Child" any time of the day.

Many thanks for the download (whoever's worked in the end!;). I'm so used to 'Into Wonderland' now that it's a bit of a shock to think this was there in its place.
I have to say (IMO) not amazing. A nice bit of guitar at the end but I'm just too used to 'Wonderland' after all these years, still love that wobbly keyboard solo!
The big question is still 'why change it?' Lots of albums have something dodgy buried in the middle of side 2. Also, plenty of room for both songs on the album (which there will be when I get CDRing!;)
Thanks again for the download,
Adrian

'Dickie' Branson didn't like "Sally".

I've never heard this "Into Wonderland" song. I only have ever heard versions with Sally. I've heard a version without woodhenge and no Sally intro, but I've never heard Into Wonderland...?

If you've heard the CD of Platinum, then despite what it says on the cover and the label, you've heard Into Wonderland and not Sally.

Oh yes, I've just heard the sally file here and it is different than what I've heard. I guess Into Wonderland was what I always thought it was. I just thought it was called Sally. My bad :).

And the version you have in which Into The Wonderland has no intro is from Airborne, the North American version of Platinum with shows the real track (the first 5 seconds on Platinum are really from Sally, then suddenly changes to Punkadiddle). Also Punkadiddle's intro is not really part of that song but the bridge between both, Sally and Punkadiddle. It seems that the version included on
Impressions does not have this intro.

For those who still don't have if they have Sally or Into Wonderland the best way to check is trying the lyrics (but Sally was only in the firsts few pressings of Platinum LP).

I've always wondered why the track listing was never changed. If they're prepared to go to the trouble of stopping the pressing, (presumably) recording a new song and sticking that on, how hard could it have been to change a few words on the back cover?

It was and wasn't. I've seen pressings that said Into Wonderland (and included IW) and ones that said Sally (and included IW) of both CD and LP. One thing I am yet to get is a LP that actually *does* have Sally on it.

I love the song, the fact that its themes are featured elsewhere on the album (like Platinum: the "pipe"+guitar tune at 3:22 is actually the chorus of Sally) and I've done one large mp3 that has Sally mixed with the rest of the album. Guess what -- I love it :) Platinum makes SO much more sense when Sally is included.

Oh and, F YOU R B. :P

I've never seen an LP or a CD with "Into Wonderland" credited.

I agree about "Sally" - it fits the flow of the record much better.

Well, my German pressing has "Into Wonderland" on the back sleeve, inner sleeve AND sticker... I can sell it to you for 500 euro ;)

although the first album i heard (about 5,000 times to my parents horror) was Ommadawn.

Only 5,000?????

I would listen to it to and from work for a few years, not counting the countless times I'd listen to it just to hear it.  (Guess this post should be under the Ommadawn forum, but couldn't resist! )  It is still my all time favorite of Mike's work!
