can anybody explain to me the deeper meaning of "rite" in the song "rite of man"?

There is a pun (a play on words) throughout the song between 'rite' and 'right' , particularily evident in the line "Speak up for the right (rite) of Man", where I think that 'speak up' means 'make yourself heard'. In this context, the meaning of 'rite' as religious ceremony appears almost unsignificant. :)
