Does somebody know something about the
following rhytmic sounds in The Wind Chimes? What is it that sounds?

05:54 - 06:10 or something - What's this?

18:02 - 18:04 - What's this? (Sounds like someone is shouting)

The first one is the Ramayana Monkey Chant, an (I think) religious chant from Bali. I heard it on a CD of Balinese music once.
The second I have no idea.  :D

Really? Would you care to share this sound bite with us Holger?

Rileman: Do you mean the sound at 16:20 etc? That might just be a sample of Mike shouting

No I mean the sound between 18:02 and 18:04,
the "violin"-:p  and voice-like sound.
I think I have heard that sound
in films from Arabia or something, but I don't know what
it is.

I don't have the CD any more, I'm afraid. It was called "Music from the morning of the world", and I remember posting the details about this disc on the Amarok list years ago. I think it was on Elektra / Nonesuch.
However, since I've answered the question about the chant numerous times now, I thought I might do a little more research on that one, and maybe on the Balinese influences in TWC in general. I'll let you know if I find anything of interest. (Hope this doesn't end up as an empty promise...)

Very interesting!

It makes TWC seem less strange than I first thought. The concentric circle of peolple are depicted in the video too

Well, I've been digging a little deeper into the "Balinese" thing as I said I would, and in the end decided that it would probably be of interest to no one but myself. So unless anyone is really keen on finding out about Balinese music, I think it will be quite enough to say that I found the Balinese influence on TWC is in fact quite thin and that the second major item that gives Balinese flavour to the piece, besides the Ketjak, is the gamelan.
