Could you please list some musical and visual things from the Incantations era that have been or could be released? I want to do a mock-up of a fantasy 2-disc reissue (SACD+DVD).

That's mouthwatering stuff. The first four albums would be particularly interesting.

Here's an inlay for a Super Jewel Box edition:

Having a cd of Incantations with the unabridged version of part three would be a start for me.That`s something I need to get around to buying at some point in the future. There was a fair bit of stuff recorded for that "space movie" thing at around this time was`nt there.Which featured alternate recordings to some sections of music from Incantations(spacevocation etc). All the versions I`ve heard of stuff from that project have been of pretty poor quality I have to say.So it would be maybe quite nice to hear some of them tidied up a bit and put onto a double disc deluxe edition.Another two tracks off the top of my head would be Guilty(which came slightly later)And Pipe Tune of course.

@ Dirk Star: the latest prints of the ordinary Incantations CD, and the HDCD remaster, already have the full Part 3. You don't need a special edition for that. :D

Yes I know that Ugo,perhaps I did`nt make myself clear there. It`s just I have`nt yet got round to re-buying that cd again, with the full part three version included. Thanks for the info though,I was`nt even aware of the reasons why they cut that thing short until I started reading this board. It still really annoys me while I`m listening to it.And yet I`ve probablly owned the cd version now longer than I had the vinyl. In fact I definetly have as I`ve just tried to work it out in my head there and it must be about five years longer. As I replaced all of my vinyl in the early 90`s.

I'm not sure exactly how accurate these release dates are, but as far as I know, the following tracks were released in some form after Ommadawn and before Platinum:

- Portsmouth (10/76)
- Speak (Tho' You Only Say Farewell) (10/76)
- Argiers (11/76)
- First Excursion (11/76)
- William Tell Overture (2/77)
- Cuckoo Song (10/77)
- Pipe Tune (10/77)
- Wrekorder Wrondo (10/78)
- Guilty (4/79)
- Blue Peter (9/79 - Platinum was 10/79 so I guess it belongs more with that album)

I think The Path from the Shine single was also recorded around that time, but of course not released until much later. And as already mentioned, there's the stuff from Space Movie, and also from Reflections - not sure exactly when that was and how much of it is Incantations-related.

Taurus 4

That looks really cool! Do you have any more pictures to show us?

It is a lot of fun playing around designing covers, I am working on these:

Do not have enough time but hopefully I will be able to finish them soon...

Hope to see more of your work if possible?

The stuff on the Space Movie is an early version of Incantations. The orginal plan was to take real incantations and set them to music. For example there's the bit where the female voice sings about rings within rings and rings of ice etc (or somesuch). It would make an excellent addition to a proposed Incantations special addition.

Those covers look magnificent, ekloef. :) Unfortunately the one I'm messing around with here is a bit patchy, because the scans are from my ancient vinyl. Yours look very clear, though.

A reissue of Incantations should of course feature the original cover...

The disc(s) could have the picture from the LP labels, too (minus the old information).

I might have a go at the back cover now - thanks Holger and The Caveman.

Thanks for your kind words!

Your images look fine to me. On my monitor they are a little dark but maybe it my settings...?

I wont mind helping you out with some scans maybe, just let me know. I do not have the best of equipment but who knows...

I think it is OK with another image on the cover as long as it follows the "theme" of the original. I am very happy with the images I got for my DTS covers. They are all by people I found on the internet. And they all gave my permission to use their work.
People are nice!!

Show us more when you are ready!

It is.Rarely heard too. You're welcome also.
I like the idea of the discs being in the style of the original labels.Virgin were always so dull after the Roger Dean era.In general the vinyls of Mike's stuff had interesting labels that carried the theme of the cover but some had the awfull green background with red stripe on one side and red background with green stripe on t'other that Virgin used. And the cd's are just dull.So these look great. Now persuade the company to issue a 30th anniversary edition and you've cracked it! :)

I made a few alterations to the back cover (see above). Excerpts might have to be taken from The Space Movie - I forget how long it is. And does Reflection have an s at the end? I presume it's a different documentary to the one from 1977 that's on YouTube at the moment...

I'd love to do one for Ommadawn. The back photograph was a nice touch - completely missing from the 2000 reissue, needless to say.
