I didnt read what the others wrote cuz Im short on time. The issue is very interesting- philosophical I would say. Im sure everyone has asked themselves the very same at least one. To sum my concept up in few words... It needs only two conditions to maintain creating music for me. I hope you and the others could relate to that. 1. The creation process makes you happy and sutisfied. 2. Your work makes someone else Happy/excited.. whatever it is music does to people. If those two works, just keep on doing your excellent stuff if I may make my own opinion. I know that my music for instance, Does a very good service for about 5 ppl I know... Its not too popular, definitely not amongst oldfield fans... but I still know those 5 are waiting for my next sketch. Besides, the recording mixing playing etc... really fills me up with energy and urge to wake up in the next morning. As long as those two conditions are kept... I'll stay around making my unaccessible stuff... even if its for those 5 only. A musician can never be the judge of himself I believe. But a musician can say how much swet he put for his music, and that parameter for itself should be a sufficiant indicator for whether it is self sutisfying. I also believe I would never be able to enjoy my own music the same way I enjoy ommadawn for instance. Even if I will write something you all decide is better than ommadawn.. it is still something I cant do, and I believe it is true for most of the musicians, (except michale jackson) Even mike. Hope I answered your question and didnt repeat anyone's post
