Hi all.

I have been lurking here for some time and read that some people regret the "loss" of certain design elements of the QE2 album in the transfer from LP to CD format.

I recently found a copy of the Japanese produced miniLP CD of the album, which can be considered a CD-sized replica of the LP.

and a larger version.

Sorry for the bad scan quality.

Most artist have this problem in the first transfer to CD, but usually this is corrected in the remastered editions and/or new contents (articles, photos, unused artwork...) are included.

But Mike's remastered CDs neither rescue the original artwork nor include new aditional contents appart from a few notes which sometimes are wrong. For example, the description on this album remastered CD: "The album, and the instrumental piece that took up the first side of the LP album, was named after the ocean gong luxury liner Queen Elizabeth II."

Here's a list of original missing artwork:
Hergest Ridge: Backcover pic (bootleg the dog) + original title font
Ommadawn: All the inner pictures and credits + original title font
Incantations: Label picture + original title font
Exposed: Backcover pictures and original cover design
Platinum: Mike's pictures + original title font
QE2: Label + inner design
Five Miles Out: Inner design and pictures
Crises: Backcover credits 'shape' and label
Discovery: Inner pictures
Islands: Inner picture
Earth Moving: Front cover picture
Amarok: Original design and tale not included in the remastered version

Dirk Star: Glad the scans were of use to you. And thanks for the welcome.

Spinne: The Japanese mini-LP CD did have the notes but I did not scan that in. I'll scan that in sometime soon, after I set up my scanner.

Don't worry, most of this stuff are available on internet (but not at high resolution).
