I personally hate the fact that during the last 15 years, the base voluem level on most CDs has been rasied almost as high as the redbook specification allows.
It destroys the possibility for proper dynamic range on CDs, and these days, it seems that only classical music has escaped.
Hergest Ridge should be a case in point, the differences in volume level on it should be much larger than they actually are.
