I just bought the Platinum CD remastered re-issue and although well pleased witht he sound quality (I only had my old vinyl copy) I was surprised by the 'sloppy' sleeve notes and other details. The track numbers are all wrong (as Platiunum is in fact rightly divided into 4 tracks) and they even list Sally as track 3 .. with a specific mention to the song in Dave laing's sleevenotes, whereas of course the CD contains Into Wonderland as per most albums. Why this mistake? The names of the individual 'Part 1-4' tracks (Charleston, Airborn etc.) are mentioned nowhere (even though it's true that on the LP they were only on the label of side 1). Any views on this?

sorry gang, just realised this has all been discussed some months, even years ago. Just wanted to get it off my chest.

It's too bad Virgin didn't put more effort into these remasters.
I just got platinum today and it says Philip Glass arranged Platinum parts 1-4. That is not correct right?

Mike just put Philip's piece North Star in there as a sort of a cover. Am I right?

As far as I know, you're right. The vocals were arranged by David Bedford, and the horns by Peter Gordon, but everything else was Mike's doing, I think.

Does the back cover of your CD also call it "Platimum", Imhotep?  :p

No it says platinum.
But what are the four parts called and which one did Philip Glass write?

I bought the North Star Suite by Glass just after I got platinum.
It's a bit hardwork ! but if you see it cheap why not ??

Where did you get it from, Ingresman? Been looking for a cheap copy of North Star for ages... :(

I'd like to help, but I've only got Glass' "North Star" second-hand vinyl copy. It really is a hardwork (like all the Glass' works are). Glass' music is very minimalistic. Mike's cover sticks to an original, but only in the basic melody - there're backing choir vocals as well, but no drums and it first seemed to me like two very different tracks.

Oh no - mine says Platimum! In terms of presentation the 2000 reissues were absolutely craptacular.

Yes, made me laugh.  Wrong spelling, poor track listing, not fixing Sally - lucky the CD sounds so good.
