:D  Fattybum.....hah that has got to be one of the best album titles I have heard in awhile.
That would make a great title for a future album I think.

If "The Millennium Bell" was called that, I'd certainly like it a bit more.

You know, you may not believe it if I say I didn't even think that was a voice in there. It sounded like a percussion, or maybe a little defect that slipped into the final mix... :/

That's exactly what I think. Until this topic was posted I never realised that it could be a voice. It sounds like a scratch on a record to me, so it could well be a defect.

If it is a voice, I still say it says "pt-chik", and I really would like to know how anyone can make out a word. It may be a speeded up word, but to me at least it is completely unintelligable.

I'm thinking maybe it's "fit chick".

I thought that the "Meeting Mike" thread was where all the 'fat chick' references lived!

I'd resisted joining in this debate till now, but finally gave in. Listening on LS3/5A BBC monitors (which are very accurate and relatively low-colouration speakers - did I hear someone say something about sledgehammers and nuts?), I can't honestly say that I hear anything much resembling a voice. It seems (as various people are suggesting) like a little percussive noise whose sound could best be rendered, to my ears, as 'kit-cha'. Sounds like raven and I are hearing something very similar...

Which is sad. I was really hoping it was fattybum.

This is the original thread where I first asked the question on November 28, 2004.

Does Mike say the word Platinum 6 seconds into the album?

Please go to the Poll on this subject and vote if you have not already done so.

Thank You.
Tracy.

the word Mike says can't be anything else but "Platinum" IMHO.

But it sounds like "ketchup".

Indeed, but it's rather "pletchnum". :)

Consider the possibility that Mike named the album "Platinum" after discovering a random noise on the mastertape that went "Pltchnm!".  :O

I think it's too short to be 'platinum'...so there for I'll wote on 'guitar'. What I hear best is the vowel sounds 'ee' followed by 'aa'. The consonants is harder to make out. Also I'm driven by the fact that a bass guitar starts to play some seconds after this sound.

A piece of art is in the eyes (ears) of the viewer (listener).  ;)
