Well, there are two reasons why I'm creating this topic:
  1. This will be my 200th post, something which I would not have thought, when I registered, I would reach within a year of starting here, let alone within four months, especially after the "A Future Project" fiasco
  2. I've been meaning to do this for a while

What constitutes a pornhipe? Well, basically, anything that sounds like a hornpipe, usually played on instruments like a recorder.

Mike has done a lot of folky pieces in the past (I think he said in the past he did it to stop himself from getting too serious or something). Some of them have been pornhipes. This is the Pornhipe Reference List (which will also be on my soon-to-be-updated web page in a brand new pornhipe section). Please add to it:

  • The Original Pornhipe (Tubular Bells)
  • Portsmouth
  • Blue Peter

I was upset that Santa Maria was a more 1492 piece than a pornhipe, as there haven't really been any pornhipey-pieces in a while.

I've left lots of gaps for people to fill (unlike most of my lists, where I write everything, thus killing a topic before it's started).

-Cuckoo Song
-The recorder section in Ommadawn Part 1
-In Dulci Jubilo [OK, it's a Christmas song, but still... smile]
-As I said before: Don Alfonso, although it has no recorder.
-Of course, Didlybom and Big Roses in Amarok.

I think all of the above fit in your Pornhipe model... smile smile

Ugo, none of those sound like hornpipes at all. They've goit recorders in them, but that's not all it takes. Don't know about the Amarok one though, I haven't heard it yet.

The only ones I would add are:

-Drunken Hornpipe
-Wrekorder Wrondo (from the "Take Four" EP)
