Hi All, some of you may have seen the FB messages all over Mike related groups this morning.

In essence, 'Mike has said' that the future of music looks to be "live streaming" and he 'and his record company' are wondering what 'our' thoughts on the subject are...

IE should he do away with physical media and move solely to subcscribed streaming outlets.

So far the overwhelming reponse has been "Hell's no!"
Was wondering what the mood of the fiorum would be on this?

He could engrave it into a 78 and strap it to a bloomin' carrier pigeon for all I care if he'd do Incantations Revisited...

As long as there are people who want to have the experience of purchasing and owning physical media, there will be a market for it. Will that audience last forever? Probably not, but I doubt it will end in just a few years. TV and home video haven't "killed" movie theatres, and they've been around for decades. Streaming is still too young and misunderstood to pose a real "threat" to physical media, so I think it's way too early to abandon ship and go 100% streaming. I know Mike is very forward thinking and likes to keep up with technology, but there is no need to rush things. If physical media are ever going to effectively die, then let them die naturally.
