What a lovely snapshot of life in the early 1960's

It would seem that the Oldfields had a fairly privaledged upbringing.....I could only dream of getting in a glider as a child. Being just a bit younger, it makes me yearn for the simpler days when Children were allowed to be children...simple things like Terry jumping off the cannon would now be seen as putting your child in danger. The innocence of childhood eh...

Thats made me feel really nostalgic.

I loved the soundtrack, can you tell me what it is? and where on earth did you find this old video.....seems quite a personal family thing.

I saw the link in http://www.mikeoldfieldblog.com/ (see the chat box at right). The video seems to be uploaded by Terry himself in his facebook account

Wow!!

That bowled me over - couldn't believe it was Mike's family at first. Mike's a sweetie pie. Brought a tear to my eye - everything looked so perfect.

I've had to come back and watch this again!!

I'm mesmerised.

Who is the older girl? Sally seems very close to her.

...another gulp.

That was impressive,a lovely family snapshot during the days that they were living in Reading before moving to Harold Wood.

Can't believe what really happened afterwards...

I imagine Tati was referring to the mental health problems Mike's mother had and the impact they had on his later childhood. Described at length in Mike's autobiography "Changeling" and also mentioned in various articles such as this one.

What an amazing piece of film. Mike was a little imp, wasn't he?

He still has seven. Mike and Fanny had an unborn child though.
