New Year is almost upon us again.Any of you making any resolutions this year?I try to avoid making them like the plague but this year i have 2.

1)Get my finances a bit more under control.
2)Start a new band.

Better self-discipline
More time for others, especialy the people who are most important to me my family and close friends.
Smoke less,Drink more..Or get out more basicaly (apart from a glass of wine on Christmas day I`ve never touched a drop the whole of this month..Something awry there) .Really need to start thinking about giving up the smokes though.Should I be lucky enough to get anywhere close to a ripe old age.I really don`t wanna` see myself as an old man coughing and wheezing and trying to get my no doubt arthritic fingers to roll up another one.

Good luck with the band thing mate.

I have no resolutions at all. Just one hope: to get a new place to live in.

I like to think of it more as an "action plan." :)

Hold regular tubular.net meet-ups in Second Life.
Run a half marathon.
Cut down on the chocolate.
Hike Hergest Ridge.
Stop procrastinating. Hmm....good start so far (i.e., made this list, eh?). :D
Read at least one book per month.
Join a physical world astronomical society.
Do more with the UU social justice committee.

No meat! Except for the meat that's already in my fridge, because throwing food away is stupid.

Years ago I made a new year resolution to never make another resolution ever again. But I will make REAL efforts to stop making stupid poorly thought out decisions. *Like my decision to move into a terrible area last April*, I have synths sitting that still have not seen a midi cable since move-in. My next move will be well thought out and I hope these synths still work.
Exercise more!!

Looking forward to seeing my colleagues working on our Criminology research work! Seriously it influences policy and the system needs forward thinkers like my esteemed Prof. Criminology and Corrections. A real dish, smart but down to earth not stuffy at all! @ I will not wear my heart on my sleeve! I will socialise with my colleagues, never let me down ever! @will enjoy the occasional forum here. Thanks for being great mates over the last year. One door closed but now I get to talk to you all over the world.....it means so much to me, thank you@the past stays in the past, good riddance 2009, things looking up from now on! Deb

Making a resolution - trying to act differently - is, sadly, a bit like a computer trying to change its own programming. I don't think it can be done - at least, not in any fundamental way.

very much depends on what it is you're trying to change really. If it's say giving up smoking then,if you are determined to do so,the new year is as good a time as any.
As i've said i rarely make them as,due to my (catholic)Irish/Welsh/general Celtic background i have been left with the the 'guilt' gene, meaning that i feel stupidly guilty if i break a resolution for all of 5 minutes!

The other day I heard someone say that guilt is the opposite of responsibility. I'm still sucking on that one.

Guilt is what makes the religious world go round (no offence to anyone of a religious persuasion.I am and i don't take offence at myself).

Guilting people makes the 'religious' world go round I think.

And there's a link with with guilt and responsibility - those who feel overly responsible feel guilty all the time, and those who don't do responsibilty don't suffer with guilt - like the narcissists of this world.

I'm deep and reflective today, as opposed to deep and crisp and even.

Probably a better way to put it i'd say.Noting wrong with being deep.I'd worry more is you were crisp and even. That'd make you something of a thin pizza base.

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL(ALMOST IN THE UK BAR 12 HOURS)!!!

What?

It's better to be a deep dish than a thin crust?

Cheers/clink - I'll drink to that :)

Get a grip? Is that something you can buy at the hardware store?  I'll check on Saturday--I could use one, too. Maybe they're offering a two-for-one sale! :D

I've only got one: I shall buy lots and lots and lots and lots of CDs. Serious resolutions, well, I never make any. Because I know that I'd promptly deny all of them in the course of the year. :D

However, as we say here in Italy, have a good ending and a good beginning, and see y'all in 2010!
