Not "kick ass" but the whole of Sunset is just an amazing piece of guitar music IMO.  Such a gentle song without making it meaningless or overly childish, that total control in playing the guitar, pure class! Maybe a song that would get lost or even bashed if another musician would have made it, but still :).  I also love the little self references, both in guitar and piano playing.

Now I'm going to add on my list the solo at the end of Nightshade from the German Promo version \o/

I don't know why it never struck me before, but listening to the windchimes today, i finally "got" the guitar solo in the middle. I must have heard it a zillion times, but today with the sun shining, volume up and baby Katie bopping along too, it kicked.

The answer is 42 - but what is the question?

The solo from trick of the light is really impressive oth musically and technically. It is exactly what a solo should be in a song. I love all the songs from discovery. Fantastic solo though!

North Star? The live version on "Complete", or the one in "Platinum"? I tend to think that the guitar in the live version is more awesome.

Pick a best solo... Impossible!!!!
But I looooovvvvvvvve the solo in Incantations Part 4, the climax part just before Ode  To Cynthia. One of, if not my favourite pieces of MO music. Powerful stuff!!
