A track titled "Mike Oldfield's Taken" just wouldn't have the same appeal.

I seem to remember hearing that Mike once advertized for a girlfriend. If this story is true (is it?), the punning interpretation of the words "Mike Oldfield's Single" would gain support.

The only real doubt I have about this release is regarding its title. Is "Mike Oldfield's Single" really supposed to be such a simple and deadpan title, or was the silly pun intended?

"HE'S SINGLE, LADIES!"

Almost certainly a pun. Think of the jokey wordplay of "Wreckorder Rondo".

Nooo.... It would have to be "Mike Oldfield was single", With the B side - "Until a certain Froggy went a courting".    Oppps am i allowed to say that??

Signed  -  No one in particular.

And

I wonder why Jonathon Ross never plays that one (WreckOrder Wrondo)??

Or anything by Ranking Roger...Which kind of brings us back inadvertantly to Caveman`s quote about "Spilling it all out into the tabloids"  :p  ;)

Only just heard this from the remixed version.

Wow! I love it! Wish I had tracked down a copy before. That is years of life spent without listening to this.

How does the remixed version compare to the original release? I am sure I've seen a comment on this recently but I can't find it and maybe this thread would be a better place to discuss?

Hearing this remixed version yesterday, having never heard the original, was also THE highlight for me of the whole 2009 Tubular Bells listening experience.

I love the new version but I wish they'd included the original version as well.

The new version has been re-arranged slightly with some new synth vocal pads and some extra percussion (probably from a synth too) and it does indeed sound glorious.
