I've just found this on YouTube! I can't believe it. You may have seen this many times before, but I think it's worth mentioning to anyone who hasn't, as of yet, seen it:

that is so cool of hifiguru to have found that! I loved Tiswas.

And I wonder if "Sally, I'm just a gorilla" was meant for Sally James and that surprise in the box?  :D

That clip was from May 1979. Mike was a guest for the second time in December 1979 and I was lucky enough to be at the studio that morning. He really got into the spirit of the programme. The presenters and guests went outside to sing "The Bucket of Water Song" whilst being drenched by the fire brigade. Mike soon dried off and I saw him in the bar after the show. The other guests were The Tourists a.k.a. The Eurythmics. I remember going on the studio floor and standing close to the cage where "grown ups" were subjected to all kinds of messy things thrown at them. Not for the faint hearted. It was a very memorable experiece, but I'd love to see that programme again as I only saw it from behind the scenes - mostly in the sound gallery.

Shame he isn't mentioned in the musicians list at tiswasonline:

Side note: according to that list, John Miles and Bonnie Tyler have also once been in the show...

I've heard of OTT but I can't seem to remwmber it, any links please anyone :/ .

Dammit missed Mike on Tiswas, I guess I wasn't a fan of his at this stage. I knew I loved the tunes of In Dulci Jubilo and Portsmouth, but I didn't know what they were called or who they were by then  :/ , had I known perhaps my love of Mike's music would have started earlier.
Dammit also missed Roger Taylor and John Deacon from Queen, didn't know I was a Queen fan until 1984, when I discovered that Queen ROCK :)  :D .

I think Mike is fresh out of Exegesis judging by his manic state on this clip. Also, Bob Carolgees (spit the dog) has a scented candle shop just up the road from me. Its bizzarre seeing him in there acting sensible. No messing about or joking :-(

This is class..hats off to the uploader.

Takes me right back to Saturday mornings as a kid,I loved swap shop but Tswas was ace.

Its amazing looking at this clip and seeing just how young mike was then.

LOL at Chris Tarrent slagging of incantations infront of Mike.
I must agree Incantations although not bad is one of my least favourite MO albums.

LOL - But I am sorry.  I guess it's the difference between American and British humor.  Or maybe just because it was an old show.  Was it intended for children?

Yes it was a kids show but alot of adults watched it also.

I must have been about 8/9 when it was first shown so I have fond memories of the show.

Tiswas/Swap shop were ground breakers for british TV before Tiswas there was nothing like this on British TV,most the kids shows were more like educational programs or puppet shows.

The thing I loved about it 'as you can see from this clip' they had such great guests. if you got to show one of your videos on Tiswas or Swap shop in the morning, the kids would race out to buy the single in the afternoon so rock/pop stars were breaking their knecks to get on the show as it could send your song to number one the saturday record sales being that big.

The format is still used today on all kind of TV shows kids and adults alike.
