Quote (bugular tell @ June 13 2008, 08:01) | I never understood while Japanese cars are so boring.
i disagree, i have just bought a Mitsubishi Galant, 2.5 V6 24V and it is the best car i have owned! lol, very quick and quiet, i suppose it depends what Jap car you buy, the Galant is a take on BMW so it had to be similar.
as for Mike, he may be using the Toyota as a run around, he may well have another, sporty, car at home |
I do agree with Olivier about Japanese cars, yep reliable , but soooo boring. A number of years ago I had an R Reg Vauxhall Corsa, and I got hit from behind whilst moving off from a stop at a traffic island (or roundabout if you're from darn sarf, islands, must be picking up Warwickshire speak from my boyfriend), and was given a Nissan Micra whilst my Corsa was in for repair, I was glad to gety my Corsa back, with the Micra, the wipers and indicators were the opposite way round, and I found it a bit tacky and small too. I guess all the cars I owned were provided to my then husband through the Motability scheme, (we remain friends, just we no longer had a marriage).
When my Dad died I had up to £3,000 to buy myself a car , I ended up with another Corsa, a W Reg 1.2 16v 2 Club variation, in Nov 06 for £2,000, she currently has just under 40,000 miles on the clock.
I know if it was my cash i was splashing I'd go for a BMW 3 Series, either the E36 1991-99 or the E46 1999-2006 frame. I think for me the BMW is more pleasing to my eyes. I think maybe the sporty Mitsubishi cars I think of as looking a bity like they have too much testosterone, I consider them more of a bloky car. Well I am a bit of a bloky girl in that I love things with engines, I think for me the BMW 3 Series has testosterone, but it isn't so shouty about it unlike Mercs or the Japanese cars , Subaru, Mitsubishi etc. To me the 3 Series is the ultimate in class , but don't buy the compact hatchback 3 Series as it looks as if you can only afford to buy 3/4 of a Beemer.
I guess for me cars are a bit likme men, I avoid those that look feeble or have to overtly constantly display their testosterone levels all the time. I used to work with a guy who used to brag about his sexual "conquests", . I often had to politely tell him I wasn't interested , and if that didn't work I'd say "Shut the f**k up". To me a bloke who has to constantly brag about his sexploits has probably never done it before.
I'm sorry Bugular Tell if maybe I've insulted your car, but with cars I think beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Incidentally my boyfriend drives a 3 Series Beemer, but I've always liked Beemers long before he got one.
