After listening to the whole thing on the DVD-A, which I've just finished doing, I feel finally able to voice my opinion on this: yes, it's weird, but it's intentional. The reason why I think this has nothing to do with the musical aspects of "Harmonics", but with a much simpler thought - i.e. the fact that Mike and the guys who did the 5.1 mix apparently took a very long time to do it, thus they had plenty of chances to go and adjust something...if they really felt the need of adjusting it. Or, in other words, the weird piano notes are there (on the CD and on the DVD-A) for the same exact reason that John Cleese's double 'Mandolin' is in the CD and has been retained on the DVD-A: because it was meant to be like that. A well-known Latin saying tells us that making a mistake is human, but repeating the same mistake is devilish. So, unless Mike is some sort of demon , it's not a mistake.
