It's just been announced on mikeoldfield.com that Mike and Fanny's new baby, Eugene, was born early on the morning of the 20th.

Mike says "We're so happy, it's the most wonderful thing to have Eugene in the world. It's been an unusual time recently, as we are staying at our holiday home in Spain, so this is just fantastic. We're going to be busy over the next few weeks and months!"

Our congratulations go to Mike and Fanny on this happy occasion!

Thanks, Neil Ince

Fantastic. Great to hear mum and baby are well, especially after all that concern people had (for no good reason as it turns out! ) last year.

Congrats to Fanny and Mike and a warm welcome to Eugene.

:)  :)  Hey ! Congratulations to the parents ! Felicitations aux parents ! It's a really good news ! I think 2008 goes to be a great year for Mike ; little Eugene birth on January and MOTS release on March . So he was born in Spain but thank you Fanny , you don't forget your country , Eugene is really a French first name . Welcome to the baby !!!

That's happy news.
The name Eugene originates from the Greek name Ευγενιος (Eugenios) which was derived from the Greek word ευγενης (eugenes) meaning "well born". :D

When can babies grip things again? Give little Eugene a suitably shaped rattle and a set of tubular bells and take the little chap along to take part in the concerts! Timing would probably be better than many drummers I've heard...  :p

Congratulations to them both-
Of course this means that Mike won't be available to promote the album in the coming weeks which is a pity :(
