Living in Montreal during the mid-80's dance craze, recall a cover of TB approx 4-5 mins in length with vocals describing the story behind the song and finally id the instruments a la the original.
It was a very nice, spiced up version which I found quite "great".
Anyone know anything about the originator, title, specific time of issue or play?
I guess 95 to 97.
Any help? would love to own this version as well with my original TB & TBIII.

there are 100s of songs that sample the tubular bells theme, but i haven't heard any directly based on it. i would like to know too. try rainer munz's covers sectiopn of his discography. you can find that somewhere.

I think you're talking about Keyboards Affair's cover, which starts something like that : "Ten years ago..."

thanx Vinz, yes, the start of 10 years ago sounds about right, it hits a memory chord.
Still available anywhere?
Will surf the 'Net to find this version.
What did you think of the cut?

Thanx as well mirwais57 for your reply.
It is a full cover song with dance version which is pumped electronically.
Very good in my own opinion.

Hi Vinz.
By cut, I mean, how do you like this version?
Cut is a slang term for a song which was placed, grooved or cut into an album.
I have found an original 12' here in Montreal I think through gemm.com!

OK, I understand, now wink
Well, this one is one of the most famous cover of Tubular Bells, but not the best one...
Try Percy Faith or Ray Davies And The Funky Trumpets, these are great ! They are both some kind of Jazz Band, and they sound really good !

Vinz,
thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Am on audiogalaxy now but can not download file cause i'm at work and behind a firewall!
Sent message on the bulletin board and of course, responses are telling me about other versions like by The Omen.
But I believe yours is right because it does start with 10 years ago,... composed by himself....
Do you have it and could send it to me for me to listen to? email direct dube@paprican.ca.
How do you know the song?
Big fan of Tubular Bells?
Know anything about Keyboards Affair?

Nice chatting with you Vinz.
I appreciate your response and effort.
Makes my day to have this info about a song I like very much.
Now on the hunt to get a copy burnt to cd!
I like Mike O as well and have both TBI and TBIII on cd. Great stuff.
Looking into getting some Tangerine Dream now.
Have you ever heard of them?
