thanks for that.  It's amazing how he got the number of musicians down to so few by 1981.  Judging from what I've heard of the 81 tour the music suffers a bit?

i think its good quality.
I have many concerts of mike, but the concerts from this time is my favorites.

And you mo fans!!
This must be first time we get Ommadawn official released on dvd?
The Ommadawn version is more intense and it have the "sheba sound" in the background. I like Maggie singing to it. On the concert in Hanover i can hear they also use violin in the background.

well I for one will certainly buy it!

Why is it being released now?  Is there a reason?  (apart from why not, but usually there are reasons for these things).

The dvd was scheduled to be released a year ago but got put back to now for some unknown reason ....... you would have  thought they would have waited till either the autobiography or Mike's next album was released to gain higher exposure ..THANK GOD THEY DIDN'T .....WAITING ANOTHER MONTH IS BAD ENOUGH !!!!  :(

Many thanks Tubularman .... GREAT !!!!!!

I'm wondering though how close this will be to the Montreux version considering the arrangements are changed from  concert to concert within the same tour .

Ommadawn played at the Nottingham concert on same tour .... highlights of which was shown on TV via the Videosounds programme ....  has differences to Hannover & Platinum/Mirage track versions are slightly more upbeat to the Montreux ones shown on the Google video clips !

Only time will tell !

Whats confusing to me is the contents listing for the dvd has Conflict & Ommadawn linked together as a medley rather than including Conflict in the QE2 medley since its from the same album unless Mike merged the two tracks together which might mean only part of Ommadawn Pt1 was played ? I hope not !   :(   :)

Personally I don't feel tremendous differences between Nottingham and Montreux concert versions regarding arrangement. E.g. Sailor's Hornpipe gets amazingly fast at the end in both cases. :)

No, Conflict wasn't merged with Ommadawn Part One in Montreux, in fact there was more than a half minute of plaudits after Conflict before Ommadawn started. :) And then the whole of Ommadawn Part One was played.

What ! No Pierre! Then again he did have alot of Gong commitments at the time, Morris will just have to do.

By the way, in New Zealand our DVD players are all sold multi-Zone, so zoning (or format) is never an issue here, but the crap they pass off on the Zone 4 release is! That why I always get the  Z1 release, with tonnes more special features etc

I looked at the tracklisting, and only found this "Medley: Conflict / Ommadawn".

How much of Ommadawn does this mean?

For EeTon

Many thanks for the Ommadawn info .... thats made me very happy  :D  ...

It would be too much to hope for if the TB pt2 excerpt included the heavy rock version of the 'guitars sounding like bagpipes' tune that Mike did at some early 80's concerts I went to ...... I really loved Mike's guitar playing on that ! ?

Yes, it includes Bagpipe Guitars and yes, it's quite heavy and quite brilliant, I agree. :D
