I don't really expect anything (or at least I try not to). All that matters for me about a music is whether I can listen to it with pleasure or not. And if I can, it's fine for me, if I can't, I simply won't listen to it. Of course, it can go beyond a simple "it's not bad", but I won't complain if it doesn't.
Another thing, I wouldn't say that an artist can spoil his status of being a good musician with an album that I enjoy less than others. For me, only the great works count and I'm grateful for every piece of new music that I can enjoy in any way.
Even then, I'm glad Mike seems to turn to longer instrumental works again as they are probably more likely to evoke deeper emotions for me. That said, 'Guitars' only contains short tracks but it's still the album that touches me the deepest.
