Gordon Smith do use various kinds of pickguards - sometimes it's the LP Junior type, others a more Les Paul/ES-335 shape (albeit stuck to the face rather than floating). I've only found one picture which shows the guitar properly, and although the headstock still isn't visible, it looks like a piece of John Smith's handiwork to me.
It's very easy to order custom options from Gordon Smith, and unlike the major manufacturers, it doesn't cost a fortune to do so! Great no-nonsense guitars.
