Hai

I'm a newbee but I wonder about the last 2 minutes of the second part of the first tubular bell cd.
I know that ik is an old folksong.
Does anybody know the title of this folksong?

That's the Sailor's Hornpipe.

I have a feeling that Mike used to play it on the mandolin during shows with Kevin Ayers and the Whole World, before it found its way into Tubular Bells.

I'm going to have a little bit more of a look into this, as I've found some evidence suggesting that what's commonly called the Sailor's Hornpipe is in fact something else.

The wikipedia article doesn't suggest that the piece would be of shady origin. I remember it from a Woody Woodpecker cartoon from when I was a kid!

Yes, from that article, it seems like the tune has 3 names. Maybe that's what Korgie was thnking.
