Just heard a few of the tracks and they have increased my inticipation of the Album.

Hearing from the horses mouth rather than some dodgy sound quality versions shows me that alot of thought has gone into this one.  The production sounds as though it's second to none.

I tried to get to the page, and gave up. It was a land-mine of security-violating ActiveX controls. It seems like the art of making a decent regular HTML page is becoming list.

Much better than anticipated. The sound is quite different from Mike's previous works. It's not all good but I bet there's some great music on L+S. I'm not convinced that a double album was the right choice though...

I still get the same old page saying the art work is not ready and mp3s are coming soon! That's after having cleared my chache and refreshed my browser. Where are you viewing this???? I went to the official L + Shade page instead to listen to the music, some of which is awesome - Sunset especially struck me

There's quite a variety of sounds in these clips.  Good to see some official downloads, at last!  The Light and Shade site is better than mikeoldfield.com, but that's in spite of the full-blown Flash offering.  It could be a lot better if it was done without Flash!!

I see 16 songs in total.  Does that  mean some of the songs are quite lengthy?  Because otherwise, 16 songs would have fitted on one disc instead of a double album.

If I had no job, I'm sure I wouldn't save money to buy this album  :/

But I have enough money to buy it so I think I'll buy it anyway. But I'm very pessimistic after hearing the excerpts.   :/

(oh my God, the voice on "surfing", how it sucks)  :O

And "Romance" is a dance version of a French movie soundtrack from the 50's called "jeux interdits".

I think I'm right in saying Ringscape is the longest track at about 10 mins. The track times are visible on one of those images at MO.de. All the rest come in at about 4 mins on average.

I still think some of it sounds like it could at least be more experimental than what he's done on recent albums. I'm not saying any more until I've heard it though.

Sorry, that's not right!

First Steps is 10 mins.

Just to be really picky, Our Father is 6m50s, Closer is 2m51s, Rocky is 3m19s... the rest are 4 or 5 mins.

But it really are 2 (physically) separate discs, right?

Edit: I found it on the Universal website: 2 separate discs indeed.  I was wondering due to the number of songs per disc.

I'd be very interested in the link to the website for Universal or Mercury - I've searched in vain for ages to find any reference to Mike Oldfield any any of the group's sites.

My mistake.  It was on Oldfield.de, but I was mistaken as it featured the "Courtesy of Universal" text :).
