I love Music of the Spheres, that fact I don't think will ever change.
Tonight I listened to Karl Jenkins' Requiem, and was struck by the similarity of atmosphere to Music of the Spheres. Ofcourse it is quite a choral piece, but forgetting that, the choice of instruments for a certain voices, and the inherent energy within the music and it's construction made me realise that Karl Jenkins has quite a hallmark. Of this, his fans I am sure are well aware.
But Music of the Spheres is pure Oldfield, if you get past the polish and gloss ( that I love, I'm not criticising here ) and deep down in it's heart there's the original essential Oldfield that it seems some people are wondering about. It's the presentation that's different that's all.
It's still beautiful, I still love it and I am listening to Karl Jenkins in a whole new light now, thanks to Mike Oldfield!
