Apart from the fact that my CD (which I received today) has the glitch as well as all the others - there is only one vibraslap + sleighbell hit at 12:38 where there used to be two!! :D - and apart from the fact that I've duly e-mailed Universal for a replacement and they've already replied me that they will send me one as soon as they get it, am I allowed to go a little bit off-topic?

Yes, of course it's nice to have Wrekorder Wrondo on CD. But you know what?  The new master is taken straight from the original vinyl!! :O You can clearly hear a pause (of a vinyl groove) before the music starts, and if you listen very carefully you may also hear a very slight vinyl click! This is exactly the same thing which happened with the original 1974 HR mix, which was taken from the vinyl and you could hear it. Are Universal and/or Mike really not in possession of the original masters any longer, to the point that they have to look for old vinyl copies [OK, they're digitally cleaned up, de-clicked etc. etc., but they're still old vinyls! :p]  in order to give us rarities? :D I personally find it hard to believe.

By the way, I really like the bare-bones remix of "Guilty". I think that the absence of reverb helps to make it sound less like 1979 and more like 2011.

P.S.: Hiawatha 2011 is NOT Autotuned. At least to me it doesn't sound like it is. Maddy actually sang with a metallic twang already back in 1977.

I like so much a new Incantations deluxe editon (especially disc 2). A famous glitch on part 4 ruin the sounding of the composition, however i will not be able to return defective disc and exchange it for a good one, because i bought my copy of release from a local shop, not directly from Universal... :/

Second disc is a little shining gem. I'm really delighted to finally have 'Wrondo Wrekorder' on the cd (love that track for ages!;). 'Pipe Tune' is also a good one. The new 2011 remixes are wonderfull! Another arrangement of 'Diana' is beautiful... hmmm.... dramatic, dynamic and so clear. Like those sudden key changes of choirs - perfect! And so it comes stright to the... precursor of the Platinum (the end of Platinum part 2, right before those voices, exactly)! I'am talking ofcourse about Piano Improvisation, when there is Platinum theme played from around 3:29. It's fantastic to listen this early version of theme, wchich was later re-arranged on that strong jazzy-funky-style piece of music. Amazing!

I must say, i like this release a lot. Sad about the packaging, but it's just a little detail and really doesn't matter at all. BTW i tried to push digipak to plastic slider from Ommadawn and it doesn't fit, because Incantations digipak is a little thicker than previous digipak releases, so i scratched a rim of a digipak a little... So it doesn't work...

AFAIK you can ask for a replacement whether or not it was bought from Universal or not - at least I haven't heard otherwise ?

That's my experience also. I gave them details of where I purchased my copy (from an actual shop, quaint I know) and that seemed to be ok for them saying they would send a replacement. Suggest you try E-mailing them....

Today, the hot weather of Nashville, Tennessee, was no bother as my copy of Incantations Deluxe rolled into town via the post man.  Here is my take...

first... I didn't know that Wrekorder Wrondo was such a great piece!  Honestly, I never gave it a chance.  Same with Pipe Tune, and the Coockoo Song.

Now, down to business... The Remastered Version seems bolder and better managed in separation of sound.  I did play it side by side with my original copy.  This seems cleaner.  However, there is still the high-pitched squeal, as track one starts.  It's not near as noticeable on the new version.  As for the glitch, I must confess, I have not looked for it.  My favorite tracks are One and Three.  Two is good, but Four is ok.

As for the remixes... LOVE THEM!!!!!!!  Guilty is clean and full of new life!  It always reminded me of 70's porn music.  This new version, not so much lol.  Diana, both versions, are amazing!!!!!!!  Especially, with the new drum tracks and effects laid over!!!!!! :)))  I even like the Stephen Hawking voice in the second version.  Mind you, he does get a little carried away with the  repeating of one phrase, towards the end.  The Piano Improv explains many later pieces.  Including, but not limited to, First Steps and Top of the Morning.  Canon for Two Vibraphones is beautiful!!!  However, not something that should be listened to when you have a headache lol.

All in All, a GREAT release!!! :)  Now, onto Platinum... I personally can't wait for FMO and Crises!!!!!!!!

Best wishes to everyone :)

Addendum:

I am training for a 5K run on August 13th, here in Nashville.  Diana and Guilty made the time go by so quickly!  It was relaxing yet motivating :)  Thank you Mike!

My signed edition arrived here on the 27th of July, but only yesterday I was able to collect it at my local post office - 292 of 500.Pity that it wasn't framed like for HR and Ommadawn!!!

I think I've made a mistake, the signed edition featured only the vinyl without the deluxe CD...I thought the deluxe CD was also part of the combo really. And then ask for a replacement vinyl at Universal (because of the sounding problems reported before).

So I do need later to buy my deluxe CD edition, but with all these sound problems,I don't know if it's best to wait a little bit longer for the reimpressing.

Sorry for being a bit lazy on this...it's my PhD taking control  :D

i received cd versions from amazon.co.uk today
listened single cd edition and i noticed skip only because i started to listen when it was close of that part but it was barely noticable.

i didnt open deluxe edition yet but i noticed that white seal tape is broken under shrinkwrap and looks like its been opened before and after that its shrinkwrapped..looks like it was opened with dull fingernail...odd.
This blurry photo tells what i mean:

Also normal 1cd edition was not sealed at all but i guess that is normal?

Maybe this was opened to exchange the faulty cd to that without glitch...? Have you checked it out?

That's a very good point, I'd be interested to see if replacement pressings are circulating by now.

I've decided to wait to get mine when the replacement comes out. Will wait to see when you people on here start to get yours.

I've managed a couple of fully conscious listens now, amongst several where I've dropped off.  No sleight intended - it's just the way my lifestyle catches up with me and many's the time I've entered the land of nod with dance or metal playing at full volume on my headphones.

That's currently Sony headphones, half-price at £12, plugged into a small CRT TV, connected to my DVD/HDD recorder so you may accurately doubt my credentials as an audiophile.  It all sounds like Incantations to me and that's made me happy.

Now the glitch... Over it, almost immediately.  I went cold turkey in not playing any version since the wave announcement, so my sense of times of the piece was a bit rusty.  I knew the vibes stopped at about 9 minutes in, but where did that put 12:38?  I feared my beloved punk guitar/synthesiser discord section was at risk but it's only Cynthia!  I'm sorry, of course, for all of you who have the Ode and its prelude as a treasured moment but the unbreakable law that this must appear on every compilation album means I am very used to it!  No hatred for it - but I'd say it's one of the bits that comes more alive live.

I'm getting very fond of the Diana variations - Mike's virtual drumming is sometimes brilliant and I say so for Desiderata especially.  I'd been assuming from reading here that it was actually Stephen Hawking reciting - I'm fairly certain I can remember examples of artificially generated speech in the seventies but in the absence of any further details about the track, I can easily picture Mike knocking it all together recently.  If he does any interviews next time around, we'll probably spend half our time asking about these songs and miss all the weird changes to Platinum!

Can't hear any auto tune myself, but see my earlier audio set-up...

Oh, and the 3rd DVD in a row plays in black and white.  Don't worry, nothing to concern the rest of you, and I'll play it in a  wider spectrum when on holiday but I've not been able to figure out what my DVD/HDD doesn't like about them...   ;)

Well, this is mine least favourite part of all Incantations album. Maybe it's because this theme was put on many "Best Off" albums... I would say, i preffer the glitch is better there than elsewhere :) Ofcourse existence of the glitch is the worst thing.

As for the future deluxe editions i'am very curious about my second best album of Mike (after Amarok) - Five Miles Out. This would be very fascinating to listen a new mix of Taurus II. Can't wait!!!!Really!!

That was my worry too and why I held off getting it!  :/  Glad it's only Cynthia then.

The one second blip is not a huge deal to me (after all, I put up for years with a CD version of Incantations with three minutes missing).

Does anyone know anything about this CD with the 3 minutes missing? I heard something about it a lot of years ago but have never heard a copy. My original 1985 CD has has the full length version. Anyone know which bit was cut out & ideas where I can lay my hands on one?
