Has anybody received Deluxe Editions from Universal yet?
I got the Ommadawn problem email ,but since ordering both at once HR must also be a problem or they wont post individually.
Must be karma as I dodged the TB ultimate postal wait and vinyl and box damage issues .

I got the same message with the deluxe (signed) Ommadawn edition being delayed.

I walked into HMV today and there they were on the "New Releases" stand, along side each other - Ommadawn (Deluxe) and Hergest Ridge (Deluxe) - £14.99 each.

Back in the car I opened Ommadawn and played...disc 2, track 3 first.....

Hergest Ridge is still unopened.....

Now I have ordered both limited signed editions, and I have received no e-mails from universal whatsoever! Should I be worried?

I wrote an email to Universal a couple of days ago and here is their answer:

Hi
Thanks for your message.
There has been a delay in receiving the Ommadawn and Hergest Ridge box sets from our suppliers. The label has pushed the release date to the 14th of June 2010 and the moment these arrive we will be sending your order straight out to you.
We apologise for the delay and inconvenience caused.
Many thanks,
Universal Music

I don't understand because they told us they were going to send the limited edition the 14th of June...so there is no delay!

Any information?

:/

I live in the US and we all know how Mike is marketed in The States... he isn't!  My copies are on their way from Amazon.co.uk.  However, the night before their release they showed up on iTunes UK.  I had a listen under 400 dollar Studio headphones.  WOW what a difference!!!!!!!  I went back and forth between the original and new mixes and there is a very clear difference in quality and instrument levels!  Mike did a superb job cutting back on some of the high pitched flutes at the beginning of HR!!!!  THANK YOU!!!!  The original is ear splitting and badly mixed... no offense Mike... after all it was 1974.  The new mix is outstanding!!!!  As for Ommadawn... just amazing!!!!!  And these are my observations from 30 second clips.  If they sound that good under clips than I can only imagine how amazing they will sound in there entirety!

The bonus tracks sound better than ever!!!!  The Spanish Tune is exactly what people have said it was for years... a clip from HR!  The original mix of IDJ is excellent and in beautiful fullness... unlike the LP rips.  The original mixes and demos are quite good and mostly in excellent condition... sound quality!

All in all, I do believe this was well worth every last cent and well worth the long wait!!!!  NOW, I have FMO and Crises on my mind.  The albums in between are ok and not in my top picks!!!!  The real wait comes for AMAROK!!!!! :))))))

Well done Michael... well done!!!! :)

I'm sure there is an encoding fault with the Ommadawn Part one surround mix. Is there a way of contacting universal and seeing what can be done about this?

In surround mode its really not listenable! it sounds terrible!

If there is really some problem, that could be the reason behind the delay Universal told last week, and only first wrong copies in the market have been sent.

What do you mean by "wrong copies"?

The previous message from Cuds says that the 5:1 mix of Ommadawn DVD could be wrong encoded, as he says that it sounds terrible only in Part One!!

With the greatest of respect, can we all refrain from trying to establish whether 4.02 minutes into (insert DX release track here) Mike farts in an ambient-stylee and simply appreciate the man's ART!

My copy of Ommadawn 5.1 was fine, infact brilliant .

Thought 2010 Hergest is very poor. What the hell is that horrible rythym guitar jangerling all over the bass line at the end of part one , YUK !!! Now we have 3 mixes of it , lets hope thats it for now , I dont think we will hear any more from Mike about it again .

What happend to A Froggy Went A Courting , most things have been released now from that period except that one.

And the longer edit of Don Alfonso.

I think Mike probably wants to forget about jokey songs like that and FWAC.   :p
