I have researched this for years. Read every scrap of printed information I could find, scrutinized labels, and listened to old pirate copies of the acetate over and over again in 2nd-hand record shops. Other collectors the world over (and even on this board) have probably been driven insane by this topic too, but I want to set it down in black and white to exorcise my own obsession with it.
Assuming you have a copy of the original HR mix (or Martin Bartosik's lovingly restored recreation), the result is this:
The track is simply an excerpt of Part 2. Not a remix, not a re-recording. You cut into the track at 2:36:05 and cut out of it at 5:46:40, including a 10-second fade-out.
The 8-second discrepancy is on account of the acetate being pressed at a slightly faster pitch. The corrected pitch makes the track 3:10:35 in duration.
And there you have it. On to the next obsession.
