Quote (quietman @ Oct. 09 2010, 15:32) | I live not too far from Hergest Ridge (near Hay on Wye the book town) and I've walked over the ridge on the Offa's Dyke path to Kington. Like many people, I've always pronounced it as 'Her' 'gest' however the correct pronunciation is 'Har' 'gust'.
Are others aware of this? |
Offa's Dyke sounds an interesting place. Offa was a King of Mercia, but I had no idea he had left his mark on the landscape.
