Very, very good! You sound like Jay Weinberg (son of Max) playing in his father's stool, behind Bruce Springsteen... who was praised by critics for the amount of poly-rhythms he managed to insert into the Boss' songs without missing a single beat. You sound just like him... or like Simon Phillips going mad during an Oldfield gig. :) I want more!!

What drum kit did you use? Acoustic of electronic (sampled)?

Ooh er, Missus. Veeery nice, m.

My son has the new X-Box 360. HMV Brum are selling the Limited Edition Beatles Rockband for a snip-includes Ringo's drumkit-probably the real one... I have not bought it but purchased an
Official RockBand mechandise pair of drumsticks in Poundland-for a £1,obviously.Now I know why!
Do you think I could follow the on-screen graphics and play-along with you, milamber?
:p     ;)

CR

p.s. blaspheme away, sticks-man! (don't even think about that Chicago-based combo one-liner...)  :D

Thanks a bunch Ugo.

It was just recorded live straight into the laptop.

I am using a rather archaic Roland TD7 turbo sound module.
8 Roland PD9 pads ,rack and HH controller ect.
And a tasty pair of DW5000 pedals.
All the pads have an assignable rim shot which doubles pad capacity and makes those little touches easier.
Also as Mike would say "So much of it is accident".

Once a few niggles are worked out (thanks NabLa and others).
I will get to work on a full version and maybe make Syd B's Tetraphonic idea a reality using 3 separate kits panned L,R and centered respectively .
I had feared most would accuse me of pissing all over a classic ,I am lucky most hear are a polite bunch.
The SP reference is really to kind as the beat is borrowed from Crises a little bit especially accenting the snare with a china/trash cymbal.

What was funny is that i really am trying for a Taurus 2 feel
anyway, really glad you liked it

:D

Thanks Jules and Coops.
Cooper what wont surprise you is that I am known as a bit of an X-Box nut and Halo fanatic.
What may surprise you is that I have never ever played any of those Rockstar/Bandcamp games .
Glad you both liked it

@ milamber: ah, so it's all electronic, which makes your effort even more remarkable, as I initially thought that they were either fully acoustic drums or acoustic drum samples triggered through an electronic kit. But the fact that you did it all through a module... well, then it means that it's not archaic at all, and it's indeed very good. The reference to Simon Phillips is exactly what you thought: I knew that the beat was an imitation of "Crises", and what I meant was that you sounded like SP going mad during a live rendition of "Crises". :) Again: I want more!!

I had forgotten, actually. Caveman hasn't been around lately, though, has he? Pity. I was so looking forward to our first world tour. :D

Scene 1.The milamber household.Day.
Mrs.milamber is belting-out the lyrics to Devo's most popular ditty:

Mrs.milamber: You gotta snip it! Snip it good!

milamber: Think you got that wrong, love.

Mrs.milamber: Oh yeah? Think again-Tiger!

 :O

Hi all
I have another section here and even though I will probably scrap it and start again I thought some feedback would be good.
I think its a bit busy for the music.
I am only happy with the last 20 seconds really.
This is the first 3 mins of part 2.

@ milamber: as I already said in the PM to you, this new bit sounds just as good as the previous one. The only advice I can give you is that there should be more of a graduality to it (i.e., for example, start with rimshots and then do full snare hits), and be careful with the ryde cymbal, as some of it is a bit off. For the rest, you may keep on like that, as it's excellent. :)

Thanks Ugo I agree 100% .
I have already implemented One idea already.
Good call no need to cheapen it with humor.
The songs length does allow for a gradual build though and there is no need to go in all drums blazing.
And you were spot on with the other points as well.
Thanks for your feedback and advice.
Much appreciated  :)

I'm glad my advice was useful. :) Please let me know when will you upload the next bit...

Also, if the recording software on your laptop allows multitracking and overdubbing, don't be afraid to do it. This is not supposed to be necessarily all live. You're playing drums in 2010 over a piece that was recorded in 1974, how much more non-live can it get? :D
