You sound just like him... or like Simon Phillips going mad during an Oldfield gig. I want more!! What drum kit did you use? HMV Brum are selling the Limited Edition Beatles Rockband for a snip-includes Ringo's drumkit-probably the real one... I have not bought it but purchased an Official RockBand mechandise pair of drumsticks in Poundland-for a £1,obviously.Now I know why! Do you think I could follow the on-screen graphics and play-along with you,milamber?       CR p.s. blaspheme away, sticks-man! It was just recorded live straight into the laptop. I am using a rather archaic Roland TD7 turbo sound module. 8 Roland PD9 pads ,rack and HH controller ect. And a tasty pair of DW5000 pedals. All the pads have an assignable rim shot which doubles pad capacity and makes those little touches easier. Also as Mike would say "So much of it is accident". Once a few niggles are worked out (thanks NabLa and others). I will get to work on a full version and maybe make Syd B's Tetraphonic idea a reality using 3 separate kits panned L,R and centered respectively . I had feared most would accuse me of pissing all over a classic ,I am lucky most hear are a polite bunch. The SP reference is really to kind as the beat is borrowed from Crises a little bit especially accenting the snare with a china/trash cymbal. What was funny is that i really am trying for a Taurus 2 feel anyway, really glad you liked it Back to top

But the fact that you did it all through a module... well, then it means that it's not archaic at all, and it's indeed very good. The reference to Simon Phillips is exactly what you thought: I knew that the beat was an imitation of "Crises", and what I meant was that you sounded like SP going mad during a live rendition of "Crises". The only advice I can give you is that there should be more of a graduality to it (i.e., for example, start with rimshots and then do full snare hits), and be careful with the ryde cymbal, as some of it is a bit off. The songs length does allow for a gradual build though and there is no need to go in all drums blazing.   And you were spot on with the other points as well. Thanks for your feedback and advice. Also, if the recording software on your laptop allows multitracking and overdubbing, don't be afraid to do it. This is not supposed to be necessarily all live.
