I'm surprised that nobody have asked before (I have been searching about that topic in this subforum but found nothing about it).

Well, the thing is that the lyrics of the 12" mix of Heaven's Open (the version used on the video) has slightly lyrics and there are some parts I don't know what do Mike say (he's vocalization in this album is a little hard). Here's what I have and which parts are missing:

This is that morning
It's waiting for you
The face of destiny
Standing before you

This is zero hour now is for you
Can you feel that power inside of you

This priceless moment
In your (posession ¿?)
Answers to mysteries
Stand in succession

This is zero hour, there's no way back
Can you feel that power in its arms you're wrapped

Heaven's open
Sun comes in
Now Heaven's Open
(Just) Fly right in

Heaven's open
(----¿?) the sun comes in
Heaven's Open
(----¿?) fly right in

This is that morning
This is that vision
Out on the world's edges
It's your baptism

This is zero hour and your hands are free
Can you feel that power it's ecstasy

Heaven's open
(----¿?) the sun comes in
Heaven's Open
Fly right in

Heaven's open
(----¿?) the sun comes in
Heaven's Open
(----¿?) fly right in

Heaven's open
Sun comes in
Heaven's open
Let that blue sky in

Heaven's open
(----¿?) the sun comes in
Heaven's Open
(----¿?) fly right in

Well, what do you think about it?  ;)

just show me where the sun comes in
Heaven's Open
Just fly right in

Heaven's open
show me where, show me where the sun comes in
Heaven's Open
Get out our wing and just fly right in

Heaven's open
Sun comes again
Heaven's open
Let that blue sky in

Heaven's open
show me where, show me where the sun comes in
Heaven's Open
Come on and we can just fly right in

You can see my interpretation of the lyrics above. I think they're fairly correct. ;)

P.S. - @ Spinne: Why do you put the question marks in the Spanish way? Aren't you from Northern Europe? ;)

Thank you Ugo. Well, I use the spanish question marks because I'm from Spain (Catalonia to be more precise)  ;) . I feel curiosity about why did you thought I was from Northern Europe? :)  :p

Because your nickname sounded like it. :) Can you please tell me what your real name is? ;)

Erm...is there any need for that information here? If people want to give out their real names, they'll use them as a username or put them in their signatures...

Sorry, Korgscrew. I didn't mean neither to irritate you, nor to esplicitly ask Spinne to reveal his name here in the board. Of course he may mail me personally, if he wants to. ;)

Are You sure that "Sun comes AGAIN" instead of "Sun comes IN"?

Anyway, I had problems with this lyric, so I thank You, too.  :)

That's a rather bizarre one...it's definitely not that if you ask me! It sounds more like a slurred "Come on we can just fly right in".

It also sounds like "Show me why the sun comes in" to me (though don't ask me what that's meant to mean!).

@ EeToN: Yes, I'm sure. ;) It's the only place in the song where Mike says 'again'. He also does on the album version.

@ Korgscrew: Maybe the first three words of that are wrong, but I'm almost sure I hear 'wing'. I'll hear that again in the next days - I've got no time right now. :)  And after "show me", IMHO it can be 'when' or 'where', but not 'why'. Or maybe that's because I'm not, of course, a native speaker, and I really can't distinguish 'slurred' pronunciations from normal ones. :)

Well I would have to agree with Korgscrew, I am absolutely certain that it is "Come we can just fly right in" (no "on" this time) and NOT "Get out our wing and just fly right in".

Also it sounds like "the sun comes in" rather than "Sun comes again"

The bit I'm not sure about, that Ugo is interpreting as "just show me where the sun comes in" sounds like "it's only right the sun comes in" to me, but with the main part of the pronunciation starting with the s of it's.

This is my version of the lyrics:

Heaven's Open (12" Mix)

This is that morning
It's waiting for you
The face of destiny
Standing before you

This is zero hour
Now it's for you
Can you feel that power
Inside of you?

This priceless moment
In your possession
Answers to mysteries
Stand in succession

This is zero hour
And there's no way back
Can you feel that power?
In its arms you're wrapped

Heaven's open
Sun comes in
Now heaven's open
Just fly right in

Heaven's open
Show me where the sun comes in
Heaven's open
We can just fly right in

This is that morning
This is that vision
Out on the world's edge
It's your baptism

This is zero hour
And your hands are free
Can you feel that power?
It's ecstasy

Heaven's open
Show me where the sun comes in
Heaven's open
And we fly right in

Heaven's open
Show me where, show me where the sun comes in
Heaven's open
Come on, we can just fly right in

Heaven's open
The sun comes in
Heaven's open
Let that blue sky in

Heaven's open
Show me where, show me where the sun comes in
Heaven's open
Come on, we can just fly right in

Ugo:
IMHO the idea of "Get out our wing and just fly right in" is not bad, but I think that the last row of the chorus is the same at 3:21 and 4:08 (the latter is obvious). And here I don't agree with Gandalph, the "on" is there in my opinion, the row sounds like: "Cooome 'n, we can just fly right in". :)

To the "when / where" question: There is a video clip of this mix on Mike Oldfield's Vault video collection, and it contains Spanish lyrics adaptation. I don't speak Spanish but from "dime por donde" the word "donde" means "where", as far as I know. But I couldn't find "dime" in any of the Spanish dictionaries, what does it mean? Anyway, to the meaning of lyrics "when" suits somehow better.

Gandalph:
I think the rows begin acutally with "sh". They might sound as "s" because of the mixing of track (high frequencies are louder; echo). By the same token You can hear the background vocals singing rather "Heavents open". (IMHO) :)

What do You think? :)

Dime = Tell me

When you talk about this video I assume you're talkin' of the regular video with spanish subtitles, doesn't it? In that case it must come from the spanish (or a southamerican) TV, but surely the ones who made this translation only have the lyrics from the record (if they have any) and the rest would translate it hearing the song, so we must understand that this translation can contain misheared words.

Anyway, if you could transcribe this spanish lyrics I think it would be interesting ;)

Yes, it's really possible. But in that case it's still an argument for "where" - but of less importance, that's true.

Anyway, have these 12" mix lyrics ever been published?

EeToN

After much listening and re-listening with several different filters to bring the lyrics more to the front I have to agree that it does sound like "Show me where the sun comes in" and "Show me where, show me where the sun comes in".

I still think that it sounds like "Come we can just fly right in" without the word on in the chorus before:

Heaven's open
The sun comes in
Heaven's open
Let that blue sky in.

I would agree with the other change you made, " Out on the world's edge" does not have the word edge end with an s.

One thing I did notice was right at the beginning "This is that morning, It's waiting for you" sounds a bit like the word is waited rather than waiting. But I'm far from sure.

I listened to it again trying not to hear the "on" but I hardly succeeded. Don't You miss a syllable between "come" and "we"? To my ears, it's not a clear "on" because the vowel is absorbed (just audible), so it's rather " 'n' " that could be even "and". The reason why I think it's "on" is that this row should be gramatically the same as the last row and that's obviously "come on" - but perhaps also there is a plus syllable (" 'n' ") that could be "and". I'm not an Englishman but don't "come" and "come on" have slightly different meaning or emphasis (in this case)? I could imagine that You're right and even the " 'n' " isn't there, but that doesn't seem logical to me. If I should sing that line, I wouldn't pronounce "m" so long instead of singing an "on" with absorbed "o". If I had been the one who should have written the lyrics, I would have chosen the version that is singable more easily.

For the "waited" theory: There isn't so much difference between "waited" and "waiting" in pronounciation so I think we should prefer the more logical version. (Anyway, when I listened to check your statement, I heard the "morning" a bit like "money".  :) The lyrics would be funnier in that case. :) )
